How many ignition coils does the 5.7 hem have? Threw a code and looked on my Bullydog this morning telling me "P2314 Ignition Coil Secondary Circuit". Now I'm at work, but wondering how many I need to order/get to replace them all?

I believe that code is for coil 5. There are 8. Ionization code is usually a coil. But when we're the plugs last replaced? How many miles? You can move the coil to another cylinder and move the spark plugs and see if the code changes to another cylinder. It will be a lot cheaper than replacing 8 coils.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if I'd need 16 like the plugs. I replaced plugs maybe 10k miles ago, if even(it was early last summer)

Are the MSD coils worth it? Anyone know where the best deal is? I figure I might as well replace all 8.

Not to hijack the post, but should you replace the coils every time you change spark plugs?
