I have a 2016 Ram 2500 Tradesman with the 6.4 Hemi.

Upon start this morning I noticed the ignition wasn't quite in its usual starting position and the key would not fully insert. Upon closer inspection I noticed the spring loaded center insert the key pushes against was fully seated and not in its relaxed OFF position. However the truck will start by just slotting the key into the ignition as far as it will let me and turning it on. The truck stayed running as normal all the way to work with the keyfob resting on my center console. When I got to work I noted the ignition would not come to rest in the OFF position, but between OFF and ACC.

I have tried starting it and cycling through P R N D back and forth to no success. Gentle pressure on the ignition would not force it into OFF, however I did not apply much force in fear of further breaking something.

Aside from just YOLOing on a new ignition switch, has anyone else seen this problem? I've searched other threads where folks keys have gotten stuck in the ignition, however for me its just the switch acting up.

I appreciate any info or help with this!

You can try taking it out and inspecting it more closely? They come out pretty easy...this video may help

Had issues with mine on my 2010, similar problem. My truck eventually would randomly shut off while driving like the key had been switched off! Had to replace the win module which is basically a fancy, expensive ignition switch. About had a heart attack when I saw what a win module cost versus an old school ignition switch

I had a very similar situation in my 2011. Key would fall out and the spring loaded center would stay in. At first I was able to use a key or small screw driver to get it to pop out. Eventually it wouldn't cooperate and I ended up replacing the WIN module. I got an open box WIN, off Amazon, for $178. It was supposed to be a Dorman, but, they sent me an OEM for a 2010 with remote start. I don't have remote start. It worked, but I had to buy the external antenna to get any range from my FOB.

Here is the thread I started on my journey, might help you out a bit.
