I have a '19 Rebel with E-torque. We just put 342 miles between us and home and the truck said I still had over 100 miles left of range. Filled up and did the math - used around 17.5 gallons, giving an average mpg of 19.6. For a truck this size and these tires I was pleasantly surprised. The guys with Laramie's have got to be doing even better.

Flat highway, not exceeding 55mph, no headwind, light load, cruise control - I believe it.

LOL - cruise at 75mph, illinois to wisconsin, fair amount of hills, nothing major, 2 passengers and luggage, and several firearms, so yes lightly loaded

I totally believe it. I have hand calculated every tank of gas through my ‘17 big horn (at 25,000 ish miles so far) and I consistently get 18-19 mpg in the summer, and 16-17 in the winter. Truck is always lightly loaded, with just normal cruising of the 55 mph “backroads” so to speak.

Impresses the **** out of me! Wish the power wagon could do that!

I had a 2014 Big Horn rental for a few days. 5.7 Hemi 3.92s and most of my commute was highway. I got a little over 21 according to the EVIC. My step-father has a 2017 Laramie Longhorn and said he gets about 22 on the highway but I know that is EVIC and not hand calculated

Why do you say "guys with Laramie's doing better"?

I have a '19 Rebel with E-torque. We just put 342 miles between us and home and the truck said I still had over 100 miles left of range. I have the wildpeak all terrains on mine and I made 2 trips from DFW to Taos and Red River lately. got 18-19 with cruise usually set on 77. about 650 or so each way x 4. some of those miles were pulling steep mountain grades. I'm thinking pretty good for 4x4 hemi with 3.92's

Mine hand calculated at 12.3 L/100kms which equals to 22.6 mpg on highway trips. Truck has 11000 kms and driven in Canada

I get around 17 mpg on my trips to work and they are about 600 miles of all highway driving only stopping for fuel. Virtually the same as every v8 1/2 ton I've owned.

At freeway speeds the engine is doing most of its work to overcome drag from wind resistance which goes up with the square of the speed of the vehicle. At 80 mph there is 4 times as much air drag as at 40 mph.

My 2500HD averages 16 mpg but on the open highway I can get up to 22 mpg if I watch my speed. What helps is avoiding short trips as much as possible and not using the truck when it is not really needed. For lumber I take the truck but to get a few bags of concrete I take the 45 mpg Prius. Roughly a third of my miles are with the pickup and a third with my SUV and a third with the Prius.
