Hey y'all,

I'm curious what everyone else's fuel range indicates. I've only had the truck (2013 Laramie) since November of 2017, and I used to get close to an indicated 650-700kms of fuel range to empty. However over the year and half I've noticed that slowly started to get lower and lower.

As of July 2019, at a full tank it's showing just shy of 500kms. Looking into it, I see there are issues with the fuel level sensors for certain years and I'm wondering whether this seems normal or I do in fact need to replace my fuel level sensor/pump. I've attached a few photos for better support.

It goes down the longer you drive it as it is averaging based on your driving..... Mine showed real high too but as I've driven more and more, my average has gone down to a more realistic number. I've even had my fuel pump replaced and that didn't make it go back up, so I doubt that's your problem.

Hmm I see. That makes sense. Do you think there is possibly a different problem here, or from what you're telling me that I have nothing to really worry about?

I don't think you have any problem and I wouldn't worry about it.... Mine was the exact same way when I first got my truck.

If you're driving style is a bit more aggressive then the previous owner, you're range to empty will change as stated above. If you don't have any codes or the check engine light on,it's your driving style, lol

My DTE changes all the time. It goes based on the data from last little while. It’ll slowly adjust according to current driving style.

I know I can leave home and it’ll say 256 to empty. After 50-70 kilometres later it’ll still be within 10 kilometres of original number. As soon as my truck hits the city streets that number dramatically reduces comparative to actual kilometres driven. I’ve seen it increase while highway driving too.

If you reset the fuel economy and both trip A and B you’ll see that number change drastically as well. Depending on driving style you do it’ll be high or low

Tiped on ifone using Tapatalk and auto correct. Can’t you tell?

Mine changes in a non-linear fashion depending on load, ambient temperature, throttle input and road grade (hills) in the path of travel.

It will drop a bit when more throttle is used, a headwind slows me down or the grade gets steep. Once on level ground and full cruise, it creeps back up a bit.

This calculation is iffy at best, even when the truck is brand new. Pretty much a back-of-the napkin estimate.

Hi,
I have Ram 1500, 2015 , bought new in March 2016.

When I was filling petrol tank , range to empty was showing 700 Km, that was while the car is at pumping station before starting driving ( In November 2016 -September 2020 I was driving 200 Km daily on highway)

Lately, at pumping station when petrol filled at full tank, it’s showing 350 Km before starting driving ( October 2020- now, driving 20-40 Km daily in city)

Could you please clarify this issue?

Thanks
