You planning to make big power, or just a little more fun out of the daily driver?

I'm already looking for an 06-07 mega 5.9 to replace my '10 and I wont be happy with less than 600 at the wheels.

Thanks guys!

I'm not looking to make big power, but more than enough to pass vehicles on the highway haha. It's currently my daily driver and I plan to make a reliable 550-650HP to the wheels... Here's my performance build:

Done:
Canned EFI/Trying H&S
Gauges- (mechanical) trans temp, boost, egt, fp, (digital) rp, coolant, and a few more.
Really beefed up trans
BD trans module
FASS 150
S&B intake
S&B manifold
4" pipe...thinking of going to 5, not sure if I want that much more drone.
I think that's it...

Need to buy:
Fuel sump kit
Wickeds Arson III CP3 kit
ARP studs
Crazy Carl's S475 twin turbos
CPP 100HP sticks
Custom Dyno EFI by Relentless Diesel

That's sweet man... You really can't beat the interior of the 4th gen, but you just cannot go wrong with the 5.9 and 48re if you plan on making big power/speed.

Do you live around Willis? Relentless did alot of my work on the 07. Back then, EFI wasnt available, so that is definately what I plan to go with next time around.

Na I live in the Corpus area, but as soon as I finish my build with all the mechanical stuff I plan to schedule an EFI tuning session with them. The drive home is definitely gonna be interesting since I'm gonna be driving up with stock tuning haha

Chris knows these motors like the back of his hand. He installed all of my big parts, and all my dyno numbers came from his shop as well. I highly recommend him.

Man that's awesome! I've heard nothing but good things about them. Plus, I'd really like custom EFI and the closest place is Relentless lol.

Was your 07 a 5.9 or 6.7?

5.9. I miss everything about that motor.

Can't beat the 5.9... One day, I'm seriously going to drop one in my truck :naughty:

Oooh man! How could you've gotten rid of it??!! Lol

Yeah, all the 5.9s are great, but I just love the CR's... Easy power. Instead of dropping one in that truck, just take your dads mega! Haha

I needed more cab space than the quad cab had to offer. At the time, I had a hard time finding a low mile megacab that wasnt selling for more than a newer 4th gen, so I went with the 2010. Now, even with my H&S on the hot setting, it is a complete dog compared to my 5.9 with just crazy larry. Mileage is not as good, power is not as good, but the ride and overall comfort is very nice. I care more about power than a comfortable ride, so I want a 5.9 again. I am on the hunt, so we will see what comes up.

Have fun with your build. I am going to follow it as you keep adding parts.

Oh I see... Yeah the quad cab, doesn't offer much room. But to be honest, if there was a RCLB 2500 at the lot with mine, I would've picked that so Space really isn't an issue lol.

I've heard the 68rfe is a lot stronger than a stock 48re, but they just don't put the power to the ground like the 48. Good luck with the search man and keep us posted.

Thanks for following!

Stock for stock, the 68rfe is stronger, but it costs about $7k to build a 68rfe and only about $3k to build a 48re. And I am not the kind of guy to leave my truck stock...haha. Also, it is much easier to tune the 5.9.
