Hey guys, I have been debating rhino lining my chrome bumpers on my 2014 Lone Star. I let it fall by the wayside but then my wife did the unthinkable, she called my truck "pretty." So the chrome has to go! I am saving money to finish my MBA and move back to FL, so replacing them is out. Bed companies will not spray the bumpers (annoying) so I was going to do it myself. I used rubber spray a lot for things in work and know it holds up great. I am now debating taping my bumpers and coating them in rubber undermoulding. It will give it a textured look and be stupid durable. Any thoughts?

Not sure on the rubber u'd be using. Im not a fan of chrome either... So I'd say do it!

Might look better just painting it to match (depending on color) or shooting it with plastidip to see if u like it. Def post pics if u do. Would be pretty inexpensive to pay someone to wrap them in vinyl.

I used rustoleum bedliner on my 2013 on the bumper and grille and it held up fantastic through off-roading and highway use.

I think you'd have better luck with it sticking to a painted bumper and sure you could find someone to trade plus a couple $$ to go towards the paint. But if not, just make sure they primer it right so that it sticks. I've seen one that had the bumpers, fender flares, and below the lower body line on the door all rhino lined, looked pretty mean.

Thanks guys. To be honest I am thinking about taping off all the chrome and rubbering over the tape. This stuff sticks to anything and i can touch up as needed thanks to the texture. If I hate it I can pull it back off. We will see how I execute but I am loving the bed liner look so I am torn

I have used rubberized undercoating before but never on a bumper. I have, however, used plastidip on my dad's 06 ram - chrome crossmember on laramie bumper and chrome side moulding. It has held up really well 5 years later.

I really think you should try Plasti Dip first. Go to You Tube and search "dip your car".

I am going to buy some spare metal this weekend and spray some with bed liner and rubber to see what I like better. I have watched and used plasti dip a lot over the years, but want the textured tough look more than the painted look. I will post some pics up when I get done with the test material.

Go to your local Ram dealer. Ask them how much to swap your chrome bumpers for some black ones off a tradesman.
