Install dash cam

Hi I have 2022 ram 1500 I want to install dash cam but for the power I want to use one of the fuses which one should I use or are there I empty fuses I can use?

I used a piggyback fuse on #99 climate control so only on with engine running

It probably fits a '22 also, but it wouldn't hurt to double check

In my 2021 I used a fuse tap. Just be sure to use a fuse that is in when the truck is running. Like outlet plug, fuel pump. Climate control. Stuff like that.

If you pick an accessory tap it can cause it to be confused with on then off a start
I had this happen when I was using the lighter plugin with adapter

Could always do an add on under the dash too and not run a wire from the fuse panel.

I just ran the wire around and under the dash and plugged it into a USB power point so I could leave it on while parked if I want. This truck has so many USB's, I have plenty to spare.

I used the SimpleUSBPort Dash Cam Power plug and it works flawless. I also used a short right angle USB cable to clean up the install and and minimize the exposed cable. Took all of 10 minutes to pop the cover and install.

It's the Amtifo 7" Wireless 1080P, for $139 i'm happy with how it performs. Been three years and about 15K miles and it's doing good so far.

Just took delivery of a new 2023 Ram 1500 Limited Elite with the fancy rear view mirror that can switch between regular auto dimming mirror and using rear facing camera instead of just the regular mirror. Hoping to find something like the Dongar wiring tap-in underneath the rear view mirror housing to power a dashcam to avoid running a bunch of wire. Does anyone know if such a dash cam adapter exists? I have seen dash cam adapters advertised but they specifically say for the auto dimming model only, not the one that uses the rearview mirror as a display for the rear facing camera.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

have you tried taking it apart to see what the power supply under that plastic fascia looks like?

I just did this on my 24 2 days ago. Use the dingar dongle on amazon. Took me 30 min to install start to finish including running the cable for the rear camera.
