So I've been looking for an affordable price and decent looking pull out step. The ones recommended for a 2018 3500 are usually over $230 and ugly.
The other day while looking around Amazon and watching YouTube videos it appeared the 2019+ steps available from the dealer should mount the same on my truck. I compared pictures and took a shot ordering the step listed below for $104.
I just installed it and can't be happier. It's built very well and was a simple install.
The listing and pics below.
Make note, my truck is a 2018 dual rear wheel 3500. The bracket and the way it mounts fits perfectly and should fit other duallies prior.

It's bright outside but the last pic is from underneath. It bolts to the two 15mm size bolts then you add the included bracket and bolt that to the 21mm size bolt on the frame. They give you new hardware but I opted to reuse the original. They were long enough.

I wish I had read this last week. I just sent back a step to Amazon today. I ordered one that was supposed to fit my 18. It didn't. I will look up the one you got.

If you need a better picture for verification let me know. Or post a picture of yours underneath on the driver's side looking toward the bumper. The main bolts are the 2 that hold the bumper bracket on.
This is a clear video of one being installed on a 2019, which is exactly the same as my 2018.

I gotta admit I wasn't sold on the step on my '22 until I needed to get in the bed with the tailgate down...I'm glad I've got it.

It looks like it does fit tighter to the bumper on my '22, there isn't a gap like that between the bumper and the step on my truck when it's folded up. But hey, if it bolts right on and is high enough to not catch on things driving around, that's a perfect solution!

On the 2019+ trucks rear bumpers the backup sensors were relocated and a plastic trim piece to the bottom of the bumper was added. That's why on 2018 it appears to be a gap. But it is not a concern or even noticeable really. I bought and installed another brand step that is designated for 2018 trucks and it too has a slight gap. If it didn't have some space it would be a nuisance trying to deploy it.
But I assure, it does not hang down any lower on an 18 than a 19+, it's the same exact mounting points.

Could you show a picture of the step looking down with the tailgate open if possible? I carry a ladder and not the most stable thing. Also, how easy is it to get up and down? Do you find it is a natural feeling coming down or do you kind of hope for the best?

I will take a few pics in the A.M. My son has the truck for a little night out on the town . Lol

I haven't had a chance to use it much yet. But I installed one on my father's Longhorn dually last year and he loves it. He's 73 and does traveling Bass fishing tournaments (including MD) and he said him or his partner on the boat use it all the time, including when stepping to the boat trailer for launching or loading the boat.

Couple more pics below. As for as using it I'm built different (ambidextrous) so using it for me I'm comfortable using left foot on the step and stepping right to the tailgate. But if it was too much of a reach I also can go right foot on step, left on bumper, then right foot to the tailgate. The step in my opinion sticks out plenty.

Thanks for the pictures. I have a 2018 2500 so sounds like the same fitment will work on mine.

I can't confirm but if you do post up how it works out. It will be nice to be able to confirm if it is the same on a 2500.

Looks great and from above looks exactly like mine on my '22 2500. Glad to hear it's working out.

Although I have the Amp fold down on my 2014 , similar to yours , and as solid as you could ask for , but yes they do cost a bit more . Also have the Amp auto side steps . Wouldn’t own a truck without them . My sons 22 Laramie has the OE auto side steps , and IMO are not as nice a step as the Amp’s . Plus they are pretty slow folding down , and up . No problem with the up , but you wouldn’t want to get in a hurry getting out of the truck , you may not have that step down yet . The Amp’s are a lot faster .

After the recent mishap my father just had with his truck, I would not even consider the auto folding side steps now. The factory fixed side steps saved his truck from extensive damage, the evidence is the black tire rub marks from the moron that tried to pass him and simultaneously ran into the side of him. If the fixed running board step wasn't there he would need new doors in addition to the headlight, front hubcap, emblems, and some cosmetic repairs. His step has a coating of rubber but I think it will scrape off the chrome.
In addition, they stop shopping carts. Even though I park far out, there's always that one cart blowing in the wind.

I can confirm, the same item fits perfectly on a 2018 2500. Went on pretty easily although I had to buy a 21mm socket for my 1/2 drive set.

Awesome! Hope it works for you. We're camping and using it to get into the bed to roll/unroll the Tonneau cover from hooking up the 5er was great. Wish I got it sooner.

I bought and installed it on my 2500 yesterday. Took less than 20 minutes and works perfectly. Definitely worth it!
