I agree - my 23 RAM limited is less to ensure than my wife’s 20 Lexus RX350. I do have low annual mileage on the RAM but still it’s much newer and is more expensive than the Lexus.

Interesting story on my auto insurance living in Ontario Canada.

In this Province, auto insurance is based on ones postal code....so, brampton and mississauga have the highest insurance rates in Ontario and Canada... go figure (if ya know, ya know ;))

I live in the good part of Hamilton... so it's not too bad here.

I just switched to a new Broker after almost 30 years with my previous Broker just this past May.

I have a 23' (purchased new) Warlock with all the factory goodies and was paying close to $3,700 a year for every ounce of coverage that is possible to purchase....or so I was led to believe!

I then got my renewal letter and was told it's going up another almost $100 per month... enough of that garbage!!!

I was introduced to a Broker by my Bro from another Momma, and dang if he didn't get my insurance down $1,500 a year from what I was paying for "same-for-same" coverages.

However, I wanted more coverage because I found out that my old Broker didn't provide me with the highest level of coverages, nor included the almost $9K in audio and other upgrades to be fully covered, and only had one year of full replacement value on my truck (already expired as I purchased new in Feb 24'), and only had me insured with 6,000km's of annual driving, too, and no coverage for to and from work driving.

By the time I was done getting it all said and done with the new Broker I was at a $1,000 a year in savings with much more comprehensive coverages including almost 20,000km's of annual driving, to and from work coverage, all my audio and other upgrades covered, and a total of 5 years of full replacement coverage. As well as a slew of increases for other items, too, including OEM MOPAR glass replacement for my whole truck with 1 x "no-hit to my driver rating" claim allowed for glass per year.

So, this was accomplished by going through this Broker who's firm represents CAA Auto Insurance, and if you have a 20+ year No At Fault Claims History... you're rated their highest level driver at 20-Stars.

Although, I had to prove all my security installations including an immobilizer and club for the steering wheel were there, which they are.

Moral of this story..... don't be complacent on just renewing annually, do your homework and push hard for your earned savings. Especially if you have a stellar no at fault claims history.

It’s a sad Ram story…

I bought a 2015 Ram. Tradesman in excellent condition with only 62K miles. Insurance on it is incredibly expensive & I was told that it’s ALWAYS higher for Dodge trucks. Sounds suspicious but that’s what I was told. I’ve been paying for liability insurance on a 1998 Ram 1500 for years but never realized. The full coverage on my newly purchased Ram Tradesman is more than $3,500 / year! Does this sound right to y’all?

I am also in the great state of Texas. For 2 Jeep GC Summit and a 19 BH, It is 10k a year for full coverage. 40% is for uninsured motorist coverage by the way. 40% Liability and 20% comp and collision.

The cost of insurance has several variables, credit score, the place you live, your age and miles driven each year.
I am eighty and for full very high coverage I pay $250. a month this included replacement of my ram if totaled or stole, I am a VET and have USSA. I shop a bit to see if you have the best insurance $

Way too many variables when it comes to insurance.. I would suggest you go shopping and see what kind of offers you receive.. Also talk to your agent, they usually have more than one company that they work with, if your agent is any good he should be able to help or guide you.

My insurance carrier reminded me that I had been with them for 48 years. I'm tired of my rates slowly creeping up, so for the first time I visited a local independant insurance agent who represents many companies. The result was zero polices with my old carrier and three carriers covering my truck, home, and umbrella policies. My 2025 RAM 1500 went from $720 for 6 months with a mileage cap of 2,000 miles a year to $451 for 6 months and a mileage cap of 12,000 for a year. I saved a lot on my home insurance also with the umbrella being about the same. Lesson learned, shop around at least once a year.

That's the power of geography and crime rates. Plus we have no idea what OP's driving record, ages of insured, etc. are.

Well I live in Robstown even though I'm only a few miles from Orange Grove Texas drive to corpus Christi Texas everyday damn near have bare minimum and I pay $116 a month. I have had a few accidents that should have rolled off by now but I have horrible credit and I was t-boned by a damn teenager playing on his phone about a year and a half ago. It's my credit report that drives my rate sky high though just saying

I have a 2020 RAM Laramie Longhorn with full coverage here in Ontario, Canada, and my insurance is only $1,076.00 CDN for the year. I also pay my wife's insurance on her car, and the total for both vehicles is $2,132.00 annually, both with full coverage.
Your driving record and the area where you live are also factors when insurance companies are pricing policies ...

My 2021 RAM 1500 Laramie 4WD Quad Cab is $860/year with $500K/$100K, $500 collision deductible, $250 comprehensive deductible and towing coverage. I decline uninsured coverage. (I do have an umbrella policy for all my property that takes coverage higher, with a separate premium). Also, it's low mileage (pleasure - 7500 miles/year).

I am just over $2600 for the year for full on my 19 Bighorn with Comp/Collision/Un-insured and highest property protection per law at 500K. I also have an addendum to cover my 14' 2006 WW Stock trailer attached to my "auto" policy.

My motorcycle full everything runs me $638 a year for a 2006 Wing Trike.

You're right, not Mississauga or Brampton... You guys have too many carjackings in your area ... I'm in Renfrew County (Eastern Ontario) ... I went through CAA for my insurance, maybe they can help you out ...

Ahhhh, my old stomping grounds...and fully explains the low rates, too!

I've spent a good portion of my life in and around Renfrew County (Barry's Bay, Eganville, Pembroke, Petawawa, etc.).
