Hey guys i wanted to know input from people who have different CAI ive heard all CAI's do the same to not waste money on anything expensive, I was looking at the Vararam intake anybody tried it ? Its a little more pricey but do they actually give more power than a normal setup ? :3681700201_eef6d1e2

I have the Airaid MIT, or modular intake tube. Not a huge difference if any, but streamlines the intake. Also cheap and easy. Found it for $114 shipped.

:signs75: I've also got the Airaid MIT tube with the stock air box and a K&N air filter. Cleans up the engine compartment and is CA smog legal if you have to worry about that like I do. No major gains but it does make working on the engine a little easier.

Add another one to the MIT Airaid crew. Made absolutely zero difference except for cleaning up the engine bay some. At least now you can see my red Taylor plug wires LOL.

That doesn't look too bad. Kind of bulky, but I'm sure it serves more of a purpose than my Airaid MIT. What all did you have to piece together to make it work? Does it seal pretty well against your hood, and what hood do you have?

Stock hood, seals to the bottom of the hood all the way around, custom made snorkel ram, it's not bulky, it's functional. Removable as well. Will change the hood out to SSK functional ram air hood later.

Tray, you have a great looking system there but isn't that the Vararam from a 4th gen that you hobbled (but very nicely!) together to work on your 3rd gen? The normal 3rd gen Vararam looks much different.

Yes, we like to call it Kit bashing! Quite a bit of customizing to get it to work.

So its not really worth the money ? Would you recommend the Vararam setup or just get a regular CAI which gives more power ?:favorites13:

Vararam all the way. Have had two K&N on the Ram and on a Supercharged 4Runner and wasn't too impressed?

Are there any forums on how to do the kit bash ? :roflsquared:

It's called being creative with what you have to work with, not being a smartass, but there is no forum that can tell you how to be creative. However, I would be more than happy to help you if you want to do something like what I've made. Has made a big difference than the original K&N setup.

Hoping that they design a Vararam intake for the 6.4...
