Interior door handle broke.... hard/expensive to fix?

Well there was an unfortunate (but kinda funny) incident last night that led to the inside door handle on my pass front door being broken. The bezel is fine, it's just literally the handle that snapped off of wherever it attaches to.

Anyone torn the door panel apart and replaced the thing? I see the replacement black handle is 47 bucks and the chrome ones are freakin 75 a piece so won't be going that road.

I need to figure this out too. I bought some all black ones to get rid of the chrome ones I have now.

your situation is a little different than mine, but it looks like I might be able to get it covered under warranty.

The only diagrams I can find on the web aren't big enough to see how everything comes together, so I can see about as far as removing the door panel and then I'm lost.
