My ‘14 very, very intermittently makes this strange noise on the 1 to 2 upshift. Matters not if the tranny is hot or cold. Matters not ambient air temp. Doesn’t care if it’s in “tow/haul” or not. Shifts wonderfully everywhere else. Darn 1-2 upshift squonk noise occurs when it darn well feels like it.

A little background. This problem reared its ugly intermittent head not long after a DNF with Maxlife. A few weeks later, I did a DNF with genuine Mopar ZF8 juice. Problem still there. I used a Dorman pan.

I have the caulk04 heater bypass and a 165*F thermostat on the tranny cooling lines installed.

This issue has been occurring since November 2023.

Truck has no other issues.

In a fit of desperation I got the better part of two tubes of Lubegard Tranny Shudder goo in it. The ZF seems to shift a bit smoother but that darn squonk won’t go away completely.

I took it to a local shop with a good rep and let them take it on. It squonked once for them in the two days they drove it. The tech said it was slightly overfilled.

The truck runs so good and the ZF shifts so great otherwise that I’m just going to drive it as is. Just turned over 100K miles.

I think it’s the torque converter starting to go bad but I’m not sure that’s even a good guess because it shifts great and has no other issues that I’m aware of. No codes etc.

I’m not sure what I do now other than just drive the darn thing. It’s been a good truck and still is IMHO.

If it showed up after a dran/fill with the dorman pan, maybe dump that pan and filter for something differant

Wouldn’t hurt to do another DNF regardless. I don’t see how a pan could cause this but it was the last thing done to it.
