Pull the front wheels and inner fender liners and it turns into an easy task. Doing those 2 steps are not difficult at all and it will prevent a lot of frustration. Just make sure that the vehicle is secure on the safety stands before you start.

665 isn't a terrible price, but no I would not go to PepBoys; I would find a reputable independent mechanic. The correct plugs should be NGK Iridium, and are up to around $8 on Rock Auto (I just bought them). I just ordered the plugs and recommended tools myself as I will be changing the plugs very soon. The dealer would have charged around 775 here based on the estimate they gave me at my last oil change.

By the time you've pulled the front tires and liners i'd have at least 8 or more of the plugs replaced. :Big Laugh:

Run from pep boys!!!!
I went to pep boys to have rear shocks put on a truck. When I went to pick it up and check it out, they replaced the front. Receipt clearly stated the rear was replaced. I made them crawl under to verify. They compted the front mistakes and only changed me for the rears….after I called them dumb and dumber

Also make sure one also has a good supply of cold "liquid wrench" on hand, too! ;)

Makes the job easier and more fun! :)

No harm in freshening up your coil packs while you're in there, too ;)

And a dapple of dielectric grease at the ends of your new plugs is a good idea as well as checking the gap to ensure all 16 plugs are set properly.

With the pads & rotors... a light scuff of the pads and rotor surfaces after a thorough cleaning with the brake-juice will ensure a nice fresh surface-to-surface set up.

Pull those slider pins and clean them on the wire wheel and load em up with some good brake grease before you slide em' back in!

I found the gearwrench socket to be useless. I would have to “grind” it thinner….just like I had already done on a good deep socket. The gearwrench simply was too “fat” to fit within the spark plug wells.

I also was able to change all 16 plugs using various universals and extensions. Took about 2 hrs using a 3/8” impact to remove…and my wrist to install. Bot the plugs from Autozone…but rockauto is good also.

No need to remove wheels/fenderliners on my 2012 Ram 1500….but I did pop off the air induction box etc.

You don't have to grind the GearWrench socket for a Hemi, you must of had a 4.7,as they're the only engine the gear wrench socket won't fit with-out some grinding

What planet are you from,as some of your posts leave alot to be desired. Since when has a diesal been cheaper to service and maintain then a gasser. One complete service job on a Diesal is gonna rock your boat for a hell'va lot more then a sparkplug change on a hemi, which you do every 100,000 miles. Dude think before you post,so the rest of us don't shake our head at you ;)

Doing my own service on maintenance on a diesel is not expensive at all.
$665 buys a lot of filters and oil.
Shake your head all you want.
What is really expensive is rebuilding a gas engine or taking the hit from selling a gas truck with 150 k miles on it.

You don't have to like my posts. Just move along.
Learn to spell the word diesel.
Why when it's fun picking on you :signs1:
You're the one who opened the door by bringing a diesal into the mix,on a post that had absolutely nothing to do with a diesal:cheers:
You contributed nothing to the thread, except trying to stir the pot, which seems to be the way alot of your posts go;)
I've yet to see you contribute much in the way of usable advice, that actually might help somebody out;)
