Is the 2019-2020 Classic considered a 5th or a 4th Gen?

I am thinking it's probably a Hybrid model with the underside of a 5th Gen and the body of a 4th Gen but I would be curious to know from the experts if anyone knows?

2019 classic is still a DS. That is the designation for 4th gen 2009 to 2019 classic.

It was kept for the lower trims and the regular cab and 8 foot bed.

The new 2019 5th Gen is a DT and is all new. It does not have a regular cab or 8 foot bed...hence back to why they kept the Classic.

Rumor is the classic will carry on till 2022.

Like everyone else said... It uses all 4th-Gen parts, has the 4th-Gen style, contains all 4th-Gen tech... it's a 4th-Gen.

To be honest though, that's quite alright. FCA pulled off a decent trick by doing it - keeping existing tooling and R&D, so that they can sell full-sized trucks at mid-sized prices. Likely explains why they beat out the Chevy Silverado last year, and are on track to beat out all of GM's full-sized truck sales combined this year.

Also if you have the 8.4 screen you get apple CarPlay which was new in 2018. If you have a new classic it’s a great truck.

4th gen, but I did hear that they might have some updates for it considering the success in sales last year...

I love my '19 classic too. The grill, the body lines, it's the best looking truck out there right now by far.

And Android Auto if you're not part of the Apple cult. :D

Don't fret, you can grab yourself one of those 10.4" android systems. No need to pair your phone to get all the features, and no nanny lockouts:
I'd have picked one up myself already, but you need a 2013+.
Where do I get one of these?

Not too often you can drive around a 2009 vehicle and have it not look dated thanks to 13 year production runs!

I honestly do not like the looks of the 5th gen. I think they screwed up royally with the new grille. The classic forward leaning cross-hairs are iconic and distinctive. The new grille looks like a mish-mosh of F-150, Silverado and Tundra grills. Totally uninspired and indistinguishable from other brands.

4th gen, of course...but if you want to AlfaOBD an 2018-2020 Classic you need a Security Gateway bypass harness to do mods.

Du yourself a favor and stay away from those cheap android units. Just do a proper double din install with a Kenwood or a pioneer. No glitches to deal with. Kenwood even has 10" floating screens now.

Are the interior door panels different? I saw somewhere that showed a 2020 classic with a different style door panel but i think they just made a mistake and posted a pic of the 5th gen interior. It was just the door panel so i couldnt see the rest of the interior otherwise i would've been able to tell as the 5th gens dash and middle console are much different.
