Can anyone help me figure this out?

When I go to build one, there is a 4x2 --OR-- 4x4 option for EVERY other truck except Outdoorsman.

We WANT 4x4. I just want to make sure that our sales guy did not order 4x2. And I can't really contact him at 11:00 on a Saturday night to find out.

The reason I am worried is because I saw someone here mention that there is a $1000 rebate specifically for the 4x2's right now. Our sales guy pulled a $1000 rebate out of nowhere today, that had not been in ANY of our previous discussions in the past 2 weeks.

Do you think this is what happened? Is it even possible to order a 4x2 Outdoorsman, or not?

They are not actually placing the order until Monday, but, holy crap -- if he got this wrong, I owe a H-U-G-E thanks to this forum for helping me catch that one before it's too late!

And also, does anyone else out there see a rebate available for the 4x4 Outdoorsman that is $1000? I am having trouble finding a page with all of the incentives on the actual Ram site. The best I have found so far is a list on edmunds.

The Outdoorsman is only available with 4X4 as far as I can determine. It has a lot of off-road accessories included in the package. (skid plates, tow hooks, etc.)

Thank you for your response! :)

This is what my husband figured, too -- what you said about the skid plates. I just had a little moment of panic. Would so SUCK to wait all this time for it to get here, and then have it be ~wrong~!

+1. I can't fathom a 2WD truck being equipped with skid plates etc.

no idea on the 15s but pretty sure i remember the 14s having 2wd

[edit] might be different for the US but the Canadian site has both 2wd and 4wd

Well, they definitely know we want 4x4. So I worried over that for nothing.

But the order has not been placed yet, because -- after all this time "building" and discussing, etc -- we are being told that the front BENCH seat is not possible to order in the Outdoorsman now. :(

I don't know why, I don't get it... All I know is that the owner of the dealership is supposed to be making some calls and trying to figure it out.

I just wish they'd give us an answer one way or another, so we can move on with our lives.

That's odd. I have seen the Outdoorsman configured with either the bench or bucket seats up front....at least here in the US.

I can't imagine something like that would be on restriction...

It IS odd -- and after finally making a decision, it is very disheartening.

We are in the US also. In all of our searches, the only new one we have found with a bench is a 2014. That is a large part of why we've decided to order. And now... THIS. Ugh.

i have a bench so it's definitely possible unless for some reason they made the centre console mandatory for the 15s which i believe requires buckets but it also removes the room for a 3rd passenger up front

You know ... *somewhere* I saw "full center console" ... But I don't know if that was on the invoice / ordering sheet that we worked out, or what. I remember maybe even asking my husband about it.

We have looked at so darn many trucks and possibilities now, I am not even sure what I am remembering.

All I know is that we have not found a single 2015 with the bench seat in the front. What year is yours?

I hope you don't plan to have a person sit in the center part on the bench seat. I had my 8 year niece buckle up and her knees kept hitting the dash, its useless unless you want to throw a bag or something there.

mines a 14. i know a lot of dealers are ordering the full console and most i looked at when i was shopping had the console. personally i don't like the full console because it takes away some leg room and really makes the truck feel more cramped like a car or small SUV

I am thinking that we will only need that capacity maybe a few times per year, but I'd like to at least have it as a possibility.

Every now and then, we have an extra kid with us. Mother-in-law we get to visit maybe once per year, and it would just be dumb for all of us to have to drive separately to a restaurant or wherever we are going, you know?

So no, definitely not having a person there 99% of the time, but just want it as an ~option~.

So, I finally heard back from the sales guy this morning, and here is the final verdict:

We cannot order a bench seat with a Ram Box.

This makes no sense to me whatsoever, but I am not in the truck-building business, so what.ev.er.

I haven't had a chance to discuss with my husband, yet, because he is sleeping. Not sure what we are going to decide to do. I know we can live without the Ram Box system, but I just don't understand why it can't be done. So strange.

how come you folks decided on a Ram? seems that interior space is a big factor ...I know this is a Ram forum but to be honest, the F150 supercrew is more spacious than a Ram crew cab and the rear bench seat is a lot more comfortable also. It doesnt have that "hump" in the middle either.

My husband is in love with Dodge Ram. He was looking at much older ones (we've already been down that road...), and I convinced him to trade in the Durango for a new truck.

Space isn't a huge issue ... I'm just not going to buy something that will ONLY seat our family. I'm not telling my kids that we can't take one friend along to the zoo or whatever, just so we can have a truck.
