I’ve had an ongoing issue recently with my truck. It’s done it prior to an Edge Programmer and after. It did it prior to lift/tires and after.

The issue occurs when shifting at light-medium throttle from 3rd to 4th gear. There is what feels like a gap in the tuning which causes a hesitation and slight “bucking”. It doesn’t happen every time. I switch program modes between Stock/Tow/Performance (always MDS OFF) and it still happens. Towing it never happens, and it never happens at hard or wide open throttle.

I’m going to flush the transmission fluid next oil change but was wondering if anyone has this issue?

It feels like a gap
in the fuel map for any tuners out there. Hopefully not losing 4th gear.

It’s a 2022 Power Wagon w 70,000kms (43000 miles)

Thanks in advance folks.

Any chance you are feeling the torque converter locking up? These 8 speeds can lock the TC in a pretty low gear.

I never considered the torque converter locking. I just assumed it wouldn’t lock in such a low gear but I guess that could be it.

If you use a proper scan tool you can see in the transmission data stream that TCC engagement can occur starting in 2nd gear or if even using HP Tuners and you log the correct PID's you can see torque converter clutch engagement in 2nd and higher.

Now, TCC engagement all depends on multiple factors like throttle position, vehicle speed, engine map, transmission temp, engine load, etc.

Converter clutch engagement at slow output shaft speed can make it feel like a **** and it can also make it feel like a slip occurred because you felt the clutch engagement instead of the next gear.
