These days i think you want to keep everything you take off a Diesal so you can return it to stock for the day you decide to sell it. I can't believe they wouldn't let him use it as an off road pulling truck though,as there isn't an emission complient truck or tractor on the pulling circuit.
This is the first case i've heard of an illegal diesal being tagged in Western Canada,but BC is a bit differant from Alberta though,lol.
In Canuck terms B.C means "Bring Cash" as you're gonna get tagged if you have out of province plates especially Alberta plates,lol

FWIW, when I bought my truck I heard the personnel at the dealer saying they took in a diesel on trade and figured out it was deleted after the fact. They were just sending it to the auction with disclosure instead of trying to bring it back up to standard. I don't know if that was a financial decision or a parts availability concern, but seems like the sort of thing they ought to check *before* taking it in.

We recently had a local repair shop owner charged for removing and modifying over 250 diesel trucks in the greater Portland Metro area, everyone needs to be very careful about circumventing any EPA pollution devices even gas engines as they are cracking down hard on those who do so..

Same issues in the big truck world..From what i hear dealers are not working on deleted trucks and aparently req by law to hold it till its all replaced...
Again from what i hear ya cant buy a glider anymore either..

Update on our local repair shop that got busted has been sent to federal prison for 6 months and a $148,233 fine, IMO to help him self out he provided invoices for 46 customer vehicles that contained inaccurate or incorrect information, claiming the shop had only sold parts, when further investigation revealed it had performed the work that altered the emissions controls, according to the government

The EPA is busting shops all over the country, a couple here in MI were taken down. I doubt the EPA will go after private owners anytime soon unless it's in a city/state that requires emissions testing/inspection.

In the PDX metro area all vehicles except HD Diesels need to be smog tested by DEQ's every 2 years, new can go 4 years before it needs to be smog test and all the greenies here are pushing for more and harder rules on ICE..
