I remember the days of splitting firewood... even somewhat fondly. Did it for a living for a few pointers. It will get you on shape like nothing else.

Now I'm fat and old and have one of the kids adjust the thermostat... ;)

Edit: Also... NOTHING better than a wood fire on a cold winters day.

Ya buddy. I've a wood burner in the garage and a coal/wood burner in the house. It's nice.

All ways had fireplaces or wood stoves. After 6 years of the wood stove in my house, I got an outdoor boiler. No more cherry red chimney. No more hauling wood inside. No more to hot rooms to to cold basement. And it heats my pole barn! So much safer than a wood stove, were so many flammable are. This year I'm healthy(?) enough to to try getting my own wood. Been over 3 years since I could attempt it.
Just above freezing this AM but warmer weather is forecasted.

Spent the past two winters in Lethbridge and they were the mildest I've seen. Now back in northern Ontario, it's going to be a hard adjustment.

Pretty much always like that here. Warm and dry. Sometimes it gets cold for a bit but warms up soon enough.
