Hey Guys. I'm about to be a new Ram owner was looking at getting the VR air grabber as my first mod. This thread has pretty much made me sure of it! I have a couple quick questions for you guys though...Is the VR worth the price? I'm seeing it as being a little over $700 on Moe's, Compared to mid $300's for a K&N. So why is the VR so much more expensive? Also...I'm gonna be buying a '13 1500 with the Hemi so will the VR be able to be installed on the stock truck? By looking at the picture of it, I was thinking you might need a hood scoop type deal or something. Sorry for my lack of knowledge! I'm trying to learn haha

You have to be looking at a combo deal with a throttle body or something. The VR is right around the 359.00 mark.

Correct, the Vararam is only $359. We have the drop box option that allows you to add 1 of our ported throttle bodies as well at a $20 savings. That is probably where you saw the $600-$700 price range.

Yep you guys are right! What does the throttle body add to the VR? I'm assuming the VR alone still adds a decent amount of power.

The Vararam is a great kit on its own, but paired up with our throttle body, it is the best airflow combination we have seen yet. Some of the fastest 4th gens on this site are running this exact combo.

Normal pricing on the 2013 TB is $399.99, but we have it marked down to only $359.99 if added with the Vararam intake.

hey chuck i have the vararam on my truck now and had it for a few months before i left and i love it!...but as far as the hood scoop you dont need it...it takes the air from infont of the radiator with the little lip it has on the front and forces the air right from outside straight to the filter

Chuck I have the throttle body 85 millimeter and vararam I like it in my 2500 good throttle response and it seems right now to get better gas mileage 1.5 to 2 miles per gallon.it is a great mod as a combination I would suggest purchasing a catch can from Matt at moes that will work well for you later down the line. the best part of all three is assembly was less than an hour total for all three.

Excellent man, thanks for the advice. I think I am gonna spring for the throttle body too. I'm willing to fork over the cash if it's for a big power gain. Any idea how much hp that combo of the Vararam and the throttle body might ad?

It's not all about the number. It's how it makes it. If it gives you power sooner down low, you'll notice it, even it the peak power was the same. I believe Matt has said 12-15 with the TB alone but no one has numbers to back that up yet. I'm guessing you may see an increase of 20bhp if the TB numbers are accurate. A tune will really help you take advantage of anything you add so budget for that later.

Ok great. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll make sure I set some money aside at some point down the road for a tune once I get some more power in the truck.

Love the orange lid look, almost got the same color but saw a custom painted one and got me thinking about doing it.

S&B or VR...... VR wins. Those pics helped me decided, thank! Question, how much more was it for the orange filter?
