Welcome, that depends on what tire size you previously had, if it is different actual diameter or not. It likely is so your speedo may be a bit off. You can get a tune or just get a device that will calibrate your speedo. There are many options for speedo calibration.

If you dont want to go with a tune, the Tazer is a great option as it will offer speedo calibration and many other great features. We have it here

Nice truck I don’t think you are going to be happy with those tires and rims for off-road but each to their own

I believe there is only a level kit on my truck, not sure if its a lift or level and i've got 35x12.50r18 . I don't see a reason why you'd need a tune unless you want your speedo correct but, I believe there are some higher end scan tools that can change the tire size too. Mine is roughly off by 5 mph. I bought the truck with the lift/level already installed. I don't think I personally (if i was offroading) would go with a tire that doesn't have much sidewall, I'd be worried about bending one of the wheels but as long as you are careful as well, so be it.

There’s a reason trucks come with the tires that they do sidewall is part of the suspension system I don’t think you could air down those tires very much with out damage

@DRobb79 , you can use this calculator to determine a reasonably accurate change in your actual speed due to the new tire size. Just input the old tire size, new tire size, and the reference speed you want to compute the difference at (70 mph is a good example).

Assuming you were previously running one of the stock 2019 Ram tire sizes, the worst you would be doing at 70 mph on your speedometer is 72.39 mph. And considering most speedometers purposely over-represent your speed for legal purposes (they don't want to get sued because you were speeding when your speedometer said you weren't), your true speed is still probably around 70 mph. You can test this by running a speed app on your phone to compare your actual speed to your speedometer reading.

So, I wouldn't worry about a tune if I were you, unless you just want to anyway. An important variable at Ram Forum is pesonal OCD score. People sometimes forget to take that into account!

One of the reasons to change the settings for wheel diameter is transmission shift points too the larger tires change overall gearing going from 31s to 33s isn’t that much but it does make a difference

It’s not harping it’s friendly advice from some one who has seen it if the road s are better where you live it might not be a problem but IMHO some people might like that look but is not good for off-road if it’s a pavement princess probably not a problem

EXACTLY! If the change is enough the transmission can hunt for gears, feel like its lugging, etc....plus its nice to know if your speeding or not when passing a cop lol

33's dont require a tire size change. We only adjust the tire size when the speedometer is off or shift points are being affected. A tune is necessary on all trucks because it wakes them up, gets better fuel economy and adds an average of 30hp

Stock tires on a 4th gen are 33’s…no tune needed when the diameter is the same.
