Got this K&N Intake from a guy off craigslist a couple hours ago.
Just some issues though, he drilled a hole in it for his IT sensor (He had it on a 2010) and I don't have the sensor, so what can I fill the hole up with? I looked for a plastic or rubber plug kinda thing on the way home at a couple shops, but couldn't find anything. Or some type of heat resistant tape? (Which is what he suggested) Right now I've got it wrapped with black electrical tape.

And i've got like a whisting/howling type noise when the gas pedal is pressed bout 1/4 way. What could be causing that? And if you keep it pressed 1/4 at a steady speed the noise will keep howling. Once its pressed to about 1/2 you dont hear that anymore. Instead you just hear the deep throaty noise if you're gettin' on it :headbang: (Is that noise normal? lol)

(Yeah, Its dirty under there....waiting for it to warm up so I can start my full detail! :D)

Lastly, I had to replace the breather hose because the stock one I had wasn't long enough to reach. We just drove to the local auto store and bought rubber tubing there (I think its 1/2 inch? idk) Is this okay or is there a certain type of hose that needs to be used to the breather? This pic is from a piece I cut off the new hose bc it was to long.

All In all I think I got a good deal and am happy,
AND I talked him in to selling me his Rugged Liner E-Series Folding Tonneau cover:D!! They usually sell for right around $300!

K&N 57-1529 = $100
Almost 1/2 Tank of Gas = $30
New hose = $ 1.60
E-Series Rugged Liner Tri-folding Tonneau = $50
Quality time with my truck = Priceless :p
_________
$181.60

About the whistling. How's the seal around the throttle body? Nice and snug? Would check that first.

There's no gap or anything, but maybe I could make it tighter?
I'll have to check that out. We were having trouble with that 2nd clamp. Was almost to small... had to put some lube on there to get the rubber on without it grabbing the TB.

I stopped at Carquest and Pepboys and neither had anything. Pepboys had some plastic plugs that could maybe sit on top. Didn't look as snug as I wanted though. Was looking for something like a rubber grommet.. but without the hole in the middle? lol!

I was looking for something more flush with the tubing, I didn't want anything poking in and interrupting the flow of air. Or would something like that not make a big deal?

Did he give you part number of the intake? You could check if it's compatible with your year and engine.

Just make sure the coupling is seated well around the TB.

Oh and another quick Question for anyone. Should I have disconnected the battery? Resetting the computer...? Does this matter with a CAI. If so I will do that when I take everything apart for a cleaning.

Yeah I looked at that a while ago, thanks. That's when I figured out there's a couple small pieces missing and my mishap on putting the intake on the TB. Will double check the fit when I get back from vacation.

But should I disconnect the battery to resart the computer? I didn't disconnect during installation, and then drove it bout 2 hours. Should I reset it so the computer can adjust to the new intake?

Its best to reset the PCM to help it re-learn the air flow. The best way to do so is disconect the neg terminal let it sit for 10-15 min with it still diconnected put the key in the ignition and hold in the start position for aprox. 30 seconds. Reconnect your battery and drive it like you normally do. If you drive it like a granny thats how the truck will run, drive it like you stole it and thats how it will run. Correct me if im wrong here.
