So here the deal. I have a viper alarm on my 2015 ram. I'm carrying around basically 2 fobs for the truck. The goal if possible is to ditch the ram fob and use the viper alarm with an actual key.

Now is it possible? I tried programming the key awhile back but after that It got placed on the top shelf and was forgotten about. The key maybe programed because when placed in the ignition all the lights and radio turn on but no start. I guess the next step is to have the blank key cut to match the key on the ram fob. Does the ram 1500 even have a ignition that excepts a cut key?

Another reason why I want to do this is sometimes my wife or kids need something out of the truck and they unlock it with the ram fob. Alarm goes off because the viper is active still.

That’s an interesting looking key you have. I think the only reason the the ignition turns is the end of the plastic on the key matches the fob. I took the key out of my fob and put it in the ignition and I couldn’t get it to turn at all. The key you have may not have gotten programmed properly. The key can turn the switch on, but won’t be able to start it because the trucks computer doesn’t recognize the chip in the key so it won’t let it start. How did you try to program the key?
