Key FOB

Hello everyone. Just bought a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L V8 Hemi. What a dream ride compared to my old truck. Anyways it came with one key fob which handles just the doors. If I would like to get a second one, or possibly a third, what do I need to do? It did come with a spare key but it is not on a fob. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Many Locksmiths now have a machine to program FOBs & they carry the FOBs too
One such place is your local ACE Hardware

One place to buy New OEM FOBs, just like the ones the dealerships sell is.

When the FOBs are delivered, you just need to find a Locksmith to cut the valet key & program the FOB

It looks like they raised their prices $5.00 per item
everyone is having delivery issues, because of covid

Look into AlfaOBD to program your own FOBs and loads of other mods. By the time you pay a locksmith, AlfaOBD will have paid for itself...

Using alphaobd I have programmed new RAM key fobs for friends. One was a 2014 Ram 1500, the other was a 2016 Ram 1500. Each time I ordered a new key fob off Amazon for $15 and both were easy to program and worked great. You also need a Bluetooth OBD scanner so alphaobd can communicate with your truck. I've had very good luck with an inexpensive $14 ELM327. Amazon link is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074DWH8JR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also, you don't need to go the dealer to get the 4-digit PIN to program the key fobs. "alphaobd" can do that too. On the same alphaobd screen where you program the key fob, there's another choice to "Read PIN". It then displays the 4-digit number.

The whole process of getting the PIN and programming the key fob only takes a couple minutes.

what is this AlfaOBD everyone is talking about? Would I have it, if I have a Snap on Solus scanner? I've always owned Dodges but am stuck working on Fords at my work, and these newer Dodges are nothing like I am used to on my older Dodges. I don't get much chance at all to explore the Dodge side of my scanner haha

I just got a new fob with remote start for my 2012 RAM blowed up my hindend at the dealer. $200 for fob &140 labor. RIDICULOUS!!

No sorry, the thread I posted is for discussion of 2013+. But the app will work for older rams too. I know at least 2009+

A production year for Chrysler automobiles is July 1 to June 31
some times they make those dates, but lately they have been off, more often than not
