Key fob

My truck dose not recognize my fob,it will do everything else but start it.Dealership wants 392.00 for the fob and 90.00$ to program it.looking for a more inexpensive alternative.

When I got my Ram it only had one key. First thing I did was get another one. Total was @ $400 with the dealer flashing it.

Sucks, but the days of having a new key cut for a few bucks are long gone.

Some locksmiths can program a new fob. You might check around.

This may sound strange but before you do anything that costs you money, I recommend taking all the available key fobs you have for the truck out to the truck and disconnect the trucks battery for 5 or 10 minutes. Doing this will give a soft reset to the system

The local (well regarded) locksmith charged me ~$70 for a new key for a 2015 Wrangler incl. programming it. So ask around for a good locksmith.

Could use alpha obd and program them yourself. You can get the aftermarket fobs from Amazon for under 40 each. I programmed mine with alpha and have had zero issues with the cheap fobs.

Most Mobile Locksmiths carry a Programmer with them

I went to into a mobile locksmiths office.
The sold me a FOB that looks like my bad one, then programmed it, then cut a Valet Key that fits inside of the FOB

30 minutes later i drove away
$145.98 total cost

I could have taken a Blank FOB into the same shop & they would have charged me $49.99 to program it

If you have an ACE Hardware store near you, most of them have a Programmer

My key fobs have been intermittent lately, even when the truck location is unchanged. Interestingly (also intermittently) none of my driver door lock/unlock function works. There is no obvious correlation to location, temperature or other causes. Any ideas? I have AlphaOBD if that will provide an avenue to investigate further or better still correct the problem.

I bought the cheap ones on ebay 3 of them and a chip dob key that can open door. The local locksmith programmed them all cheaply. do a search, many threads with costs posted

I paid $20 for 2 keys on ebay they last a year or 2. Used the chysler pin puller app for android $15 and my scanner to program key very easy. Like mentioned above you can use alpha ect to program keys.
