Key FOB

So I just bought a used 2014 tradesman and it only came with one key fob. Since it would be nice to have a back up way to start my truck what is the best, cheapest way without going to a dealer to get a new key fob. I called a dealership and was told $260.00 for a new key.

I'd pick up a NEW OEM fob off eBay and take it to the dealer to program...Just make sure it is new/never programed as I heard once programed fobs cannot be reprogrammed.

Thats just FOB'ed up. ask the dealer who you got the truck from to get another key.

At the very least have them give you a new one. If they don't you can get one on ebay and program it yourself. I programmed my wife's cadillac one in 3 minutes.

Programming it yourself will require having 2 good fobs first, without 2 fobs you have to take it to the dealer or a locksmith.

Apparently it only works if you dont have enter and go. If you still have to insert a key fob into the ignition there's a way to make it work.

As far as I know you can't program Dodge key fobs yourself.
Either the dealer or a good lock smith can do it and both are around $50:****:

GM's you can program yourself, but again Dodge has to be **** with there electronics.

I've never heard that before and on both forums they say you have to have the dealer program them.

Like I said you have to have 2 transponders that work with the vehicle to use the consumer programming features. I believe this may have changed in 2015, but I know it works on my 2014 Jeep..

But the OP only has one transponder. Call around to locksmiths, might get a better deal.

Thanks for the responses guys. I found an OEM never been programmed FOB for $85.00 on ebay, and another $49.00 for the dealer to program it. Does this sound reasonable or am I getting hosed?

or...if you dont have remote start you can buy the kit for around $200 and dealer install for around $100. The kit comes with 2 new keyfobs. I'm just saying if you laying a benjamin down might as well add 2 more and get something worthwhile for your boys

I'm interested. Is this a Mopar kit?

I also only have one FOB (2013 Express) and would like both another FOB and the remote start feature (true keyless entry also?). I have a "keyless" fob with the squared off head, but I still have to put it in the ignition and turn it to start the car. It's not the true keyless entry with the pushbutton start.

If I can get all of the above for $300, I'm in! I called a few alarm places about OEM and was told I would need an additional FOB (one for alarm/entry/remote start) and also the factory one in the ignition to actually drive. The Dodge FOB is big enough in my pocket, I definitely don't want another one I have to carry around!

keyless enter n' go is something else, this is a mopar kit. Gives you two new fobs with the extra "2x" button required for remot start. I did this for my 2012 express
