^^^Exactly. I too believe that the 5.7 and 6.4 are mechanical variable speed oil pumps. What would activate or cause the top end to lubricate by turning the key on but not starting for 5 seconds.

FITZ, I for sure do not know. So, when we remote start, sure not gonna get 5 seconds, but alas, Hemi is a hemi, LOL. I just try to maintain all MX properly and enjoy the ride... Guess we could all be riding in Prius with a Ram Emblem taped to the front hood, LOL

The only thing being accomplished by " slow starting " as you call it is primeing youre fuel system or injectors. Now that's not a bad idea however thats not hemi tick. Some injectors are noiser than others.

Good day, Im back!(unfortunately) and thanks for all the info regarding my original post, but this morning I had the same thing happen again with the tick at startup. I changed the oil about 3000km ago and went back to mobil 1 filter and it seemed to stop the tick for the time being. Its the first time its done it since changing the filter. any suggestions on what it could be now? it has only happened once so far since the oil change.. super frustrating!!! I would like for the ticking to happen each time at start up so I can show the dealership but unfortunately it doesn't.

Look forward to your responses.

Bud, many guys have quieted that tick by using high moly redline and a royal purple filter. If you look at this graph you see why. The coefficient of friction is lowest at 700ppm moly, similar to the level in redline 5w30. Look at the moly levels on the right side, and see where that coincides with the lowest friction level. it is science, lower friction will help this issue, how much is yet to be seen, everyone has a different result, but most it works really good.

Your current coefficient of friction can be cut in half by using over 200ppm moly or more. It is also dependent on having over 1,000 ppm zinc, once again a feature in redline 5w30.

I quieted the tick by just simply waiting a few seconds before turning it on ... the only times I do get or hear the tick is when I "DO" remote start it which is very rare anyways ...

Cheech dog, myself and others believe that the only thing you are accomplishing with that few second delay is possibly quieting your fuel injectors...
