Recently I realized my left rear caliper is leaking, I decided to rebuild all my calipers and make sure 100% nothing is wrong. I just took off the caliper and disassembled is. Sadly I cannot figure out the leak on this caliper. I thought the piston seal was my issue. But I guess not... The caliper is leaking somewhere, and most of the brake fluid is around a "Caliper Guide Pin Boot" is this possible for it to leak from there?

Any input appreciated, im also painting all my calipers. if it is a leaky boot, is this something i can completely rebuild? I dont want to have to buy all 4 new calipers but I will so I can get this job done the first time.

Best bet is just to replace the calipers...you dont need to replace all 4, but it is good to replace them in pairs....then you have a lifetime warranty and never have to purchase them again.

Its better to rebuild the calipers IMO from my view of prices. I can rebuild every single caliper for less then what 1 costs. The only thing that wears on a caliper are the rubber boots.

After taking off my rear brakes today, I dissembled them. Then went to the front brakes. I found one piston boot ripped on the front.

I cannot wait till I finish rebuilding these and see how new brakes feel.

Yeah, true on the rebuilding them yourself deal versus buying them already done...but I have always just bought rebuilt ones...Even though you'd be looking at around $70 each for the Duralast calipers from Autozone, the lifetime warranty is what deaws me into just buying them.

So here is my brake down, no pun intended haha

Rear left caliper was leaking, and the front right caliper had a torn piston boot. Im not dealing with firestone on this, however im going to write them a nasty letter.
