I got one of the newer center consoles with the phone holder for my 13. I got it on eBay cheap because someone slashed it up with a razor or something? I wrapped the top in a silver vinyl to match after smoothing out a couple of the cuts with sandpaper and today I added LED angel eye cupholder lights. Not sure if they will be too bright at night but they look good for now, plus I usually have drinks in the cupholder anyway. I got 75mm angel eyes with plastic lens and they fit perfectly. I tapped into the the interior dimming light circuit behind the light switch for power so they are dimmable, but they are still pretty bright. I didn't have to glue them in or anything, as they fit pretty snug. There's a possibility I may have to tint the plastic lenses or something if they end up being too bright at night dfc98df2975acc41f890ea640ad37ed4.jpgcde8bd43c87a87270c56a0841571cf1e.jpg

There's a little black plastic thingy inline. Either a ballast or something similar .

I like it. I may consider copying it in red.

Pretty bright at night, but stuff in the cupholder makes them not as bad. I still may try to dim them down. Maybe paint the plastic housing or something. 39982f3888ecebae5779d06134104e79.jpg

Yeah I was thinking of I was going to do it I'd paint 90% of it and leave the bottom kinda open so it shined down more than up. Looks sick though!

I'm going over ideas in my head and I think maybe some satin black vinyl. Put in on top, then heat it then remove the outer portion that goes against the side of the cupholder. That way it's not permanent and easy to alter the amount of light showing through.

Yeah that may work well too! When you do post pics. I think I'm sold on the idea.

If they are LED you just need to add a resistor in series to drop the current.
R=E/I so R= 12v/desired currant say 10ma
R=12/.010 -> 1.2k ohms

Tweek values from there to what you want.
Better yet get a potentiometer so you can adjust brightness to what you want at any time. It just a variable resistor

The potentiometer sounds like a great idea. Any suggestions on what to look for? Just a 12v potentiometer?
