So I installed LED fog light bulbs into the stock fog lights in my 2016 Ram Limited and am having an issue with the driver side bulb going off and on randomly. I thought it might be the bulbs I bought, so I bought a 2nd kit that was a little more expensive but had the same results. I thought it might be the bulb or adapter, so I swapped with the passenger side with no change. The driver side continues to go on and off randomly. If i switch back to the stock bulbs the issue goes away. Has anyone else had this issue and if you did, how did you resolve it?

Please post a link for both sets of LED bulbs you've tried.

The Fahren bulbs work better than most but sometimes the older truck's BCM causes grief that appears as flickering or intermittent dropouts.

Often, the only solution for older trucks is buying the app AlfaOBD and an OBDD2 interface.
Then you can tweak the BCM configuration to work with LED bulbs and a few other useful customizations that would otherwise have to be done at a dealer, if they would agree.

A dealership tech can only make factory available options with WiTech, changing the headlight/fog light type would not be possible through the dealership

Perhaps I wasn't clear with my wording, thanks for catching that.

I wasn't suggesting the dealership could change light type settings.

@RamDiverI ended up going with the Fahrens you suggested, plus i added LED RAM letters. I think it turned out pretty well.

The Fahren link was from @CanuckRam1313, I just agreed with his advice.

Are you happy with the lights?

You will have to post a link for the Ram emblem illumination kit, others will be interested.

@RamDiver Only on my 2nd day with the lights, but so far so good!
Here is the link:
I had to cut the entire center section out of the grille, but I like the way it turned out.

Awesome and thanks for all the pictures.

Please keep us posted on your lights too.
Glad to hear everything went well with no surprises.

Where did you find the RAM letters?

Yep I’m dealing with this now after having Hiakris for many years that worked with Alfa. I had polarity wrong on driver side after I was getting flashing on and off on the passenger side.

Now I have the passenger side on but the driver side is flashing on and off. I rechecked Alfa and it looks to be good, if there was a short wouldn’t the light not even turn on the driver side led fog? What gets me is my Hikari’s were working fine before I took them out and put these in gf aged they were flickering and at the end of their life, not bright.

Any idea what I could have missed. Maybe unplug and plug them back in? Only other thing I can think of is maybe some water got into plug or I could try to reseat it?

I find the above block a bit confusing. TMI, and how about using a few line breaks?

If you're having a problem with a particular bulb not functioning correctly, other previous bulbs are irrelevant. Some work, some don't, that's nothing new.

Instead of stating you checked the AlfaOBD as being correct, how about you identify what settings you have used?

With many trucks, 2016 or older, the successful settings for different LED bulbs are not always the same, but usually include the following;

CBC Features-LED Low Beam Lamps Present
CBC Features-LED High Beam Lamps Present
VehConfig 3-High Intensity Discharge Headlamps

Some users have had success by using different combinations of the above options, using only the LED settings, or only the HID settings.

From what I've observed, the different BCMs used in the same vintage of truck may not react the same as another, especially in pre-2016 years. In other words, we have a typical setup, but that's no guarantee of success.

And things change over time. I used Fahren bulbs successfully for almost a year with no tweaks required, and then I noticed a very slight flicker in one of the low beams.

I switched the headlights to LED soon after I upgraded the CHMSL cargo lights, and this corrected that slight flicker.

To this day, the CHMSL cargo lights intermittently flicker. Changing the setting to LED soon after installation corrected that condition immediately, but once in a while, it still flickers on one side or the other. The flicker happens so rarely, I can't be bothered to investigate further.

Thank you for the info and sorry for the run on. I’ll own it.
