Glad it helped. Yes. Plug was removed before drilling, (it's plastic and attached by 2 nuts under dash if I remember correctly. I drilled out the hole at 1" and used a 1" x 5/8" grommet (nothing fancy, just went to Lowes and picked up 3 or 4 just in case), but I had to modify the grommet due to thickness of the plug, so by the time I finished, the ID of the grommet was snug around the OD of the 3/8" loom.

Excellent write up, thank you for post. It gives me some ideas for my new truck. I want as much light as I can get. I wonder if these lights would work on my Fleetwood RV?

These lights would work great on an RV, i fact I have a buddy who runs them.

Very nice. Can't wait to get my lights installed. Except mine are blue and white. Thank you for the write up.

The brackets behind the grill I made. The brackets in the fog light openings are made by ICI. I bought them from AutoAnything but they are available from a lot of vendors, the trick is finding one who ships to Alaska.

If you want a better look I can show you the install in person someday. PM me if interested.

will do if i decide to go that route. i have the ici fog lights now and i like the protection being mounted in the bumper or behind the grill for the light bar thieves up here. granted if they were motivated enough it would be really easy to get. did you have the active shutter system in your truck? i think i read somewhere that if you take it out it will trip some error lights.

I did not have the active shutter system (Outdoorsman package), but did have to remove two plastic air ducts from behind the grill.

Thanks. The ambers are Rigid SR's spot/flood combo. The actual LED is amber, (works great in snow/dust) versus putting an amber cover over a white light, which gives more of a yellow light and slightly diminishes the output.

Sbarron, great write up. I am thoroughly confused. Not because of lack of detailed write up but wiring in general, is just plain foreign to me. Looks like you did a professional job with all of it.

Question. Were you able to test out the brightness or distance the D2 hyperspots were able to illuminate. I have real high interest in a pair of these and would rather go with these than a Vision X spot or similar. Rigid states 300+ yards with enough light to be able to read with. Can you tell what they are doing for you alone? Thanks

I am guessing that the D2 Hyerspots have right at the 300 yards. I'll try to get some pictures in the next few days. Difficult because its Alaska and it's the solstice so its light about 20 hours a day.

You used 3 Relays for your D2 lights, 1 for Low, 1 for Hi, and 1 for your HyperSpot. If you didn't have dual power fogs, would you of used 1 Relay instead? I'm not sure If I want to run a relay for both the Hyper, and the Driving lights. I'll never turn them on independently as I'll only have one switch to operate them. It would save me a little money and leave me more room for other relays later down the road. I don't think I'd need to worry about total amps as they only add up to 7.9amps and the relay is rated to handle 30/40amps. With that in mind is there any reason I should use two relays instead of just one? I haven't fully decided which route I'll go but I'd appreciate your input.

Yes. If you weren't going to run them independently and didn't have the low power, one relay would handle the job just fine.

I have 3 separate lighting options with the lights is why I used 3 relays. I was trying to put the most flexibility into the system wit the least amount of AUX switches.

Looks good and appears that you spend quite a chunk of green with that brand of light. That brand doesn't disappoint though... How bright are the amber lights by themselves? Would you say that on a dark road they light up good enough to see driving?

THanks. yes, i would say that the ambers have enough light to drive by by themselves, remember though that its a different type of light than white, so it doesn't appear as "bright".
