I installed a curved 42” led light bar on my 2014 Ram 1500 and it works great. My problem is that I accidentally left it on while parked, luckily I discovered it before my battery died. My question - can I wire it so the lights only work when the truck is running? I currently have it wired directly to the +/- in the battery and assume I need to tap into the fuse box somewhere? Help is greatly appreciated.IMG_7254.jpeg

You'll need to tap a fuse that is only powered while the truck is running.

Hopefully your not running that on the roads, I can guarantee that's not street legal and you're blinding the crap out of oncoming drivers.

Well first of all, not noticing 42” of LEDs as you walk away from your truck is a skill issue lol

Run a relay with the high beams as the trigger. Don’t have to worry about flicking a second switch for the light bar when you see another car, and won’t be left on when you leave the truck. If you want to get fancy you can add a switch to add the abilities to be always on or always off as well. I did that but I always leave it on with high beams anyways so it’s kind of pointless

Off road only. Yes, it was during the day. Can you offer any links on how to? Is there a post anywhere that I can connect to that only gets power when accessories are powered? My lights are 300 watts, if I piggyback on something coming out of the fuse box won’t there be a power/fuse issue?

Cheap relay like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07WVTLC2R/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Tap black wire into high beam wire (easy to find which wire that is with a multimeter), easiest to do that right behind the headlight. Red goes to + of battery and make sure you have an inline fuse, white goes to - of battery. Yellow goes to light bar. Blue won’t be used but be sure to cap it off as it will be a live positive. Then run a negative to the light bar from wherever. You can just wrap the relay in tape and ziptie it somewhere.

The relay simply uses the high beam wire as the trigger to deliver the power from the battery to the light bar, without actually drawing from the high beam circuit.
