Leveling kit and Cv joint

How far down can you actually pull on a Cv joint before damaging it? How can you tell if it's damaged?

You mean like pull on it with your hands?

I think the worst thing you can do is pull of the retaining C-Clip in the tripod, but if I remember correctly, it won't push back together if you do that, so you would notice on re-assembly.

I was curious because installing my leveling kit I had it in a bad bind.
