I'm new to the lifted world and have just payed my brand new used ram off. It's an 05 SLT quad cab with the 5.7 Hemi and just turned 90k miles. It's currently sitting in storage until I get back from Afghanistan, but when I get back it will need a full tune up and that will include suspension. I'm wanting to lift it and step up to 35's. Any suggestions would help, I also have to throw out that I don't want to completely lose my fuel economy or break the bank. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

if you are just going for looks and not really going for offroad capabilities you could save a lot of money and get a 3' body lift which will look great with 35's

I have to agree with peen a body lift is economical but the 35" tires will bring you down a few mpg. The other thing you may have to look into would be different wheels as the 35" may rub a little at full lock. But not 100% sure.

Thank you for your service.

I'm not sure what you are expecting as far as fuel economy but my 05 Hemi QC w/a 4" lift and 35's I was getting 10.5 - 11mpg in town and 15-16 highway (16-17 on a flat highway going 60-65 with a tail wind :) )

You can fit 35's if you crank your torsion bars like GhostRam94 mentioned.
What kind of budget are you trying to work with?

Not sure on budget yet, but I know I'm going to have to change some suspension stuff anyway(the ride wasn't all that smooth when I parked it) so I figured why not go ahead and give it a little better stance via a lift. As far as mileage, if I can average between 14-15 with highway and city I'd be fine.

Does cranking them have any negative effects other than needing an alignment, and how much lift will that provide?

Hey, you're from Tampa right? Are you going to install the lift yourself? If not, I know a DAMN good shop with excellent prices.

I am from Tampa and was considering doing it myself, if it doesn't seem like too hard of a task. A good shop though does sound good too.

Tampa here too. Maybe we need to get together and do a lift party. I'm sure we could get it done. I used to work in a 4x4 shop.

Adjusting by the T-bars will make the ride stiffer and feel worse.

Options .. cheap first ..
3" body lift .. a case of beer and a few buddys
Suspension lift with all new shocks ect .. get ya back running smooth .

Either way .. looking for a good deal PM me .. being your military = more of a discount on top of the price I give that no one can match .

If you don't plan on ever putting 37's on it, a 4' suspension with 35's is the way to go. But some guys on here get a 4 then wish they had gotten a 6. I guess the way to put it is; a 4 inch is more daily driver friendly if you don't want to climb into your truck.

Yes .. when t-bar cranking you MUST replace shocks or get shock relocate brackets for a good ride .
If not every little bump you will feel and hear the shock just bottom/top out .

OP might just need a 3" body lift and a set of new shocks .. that is what I would do if I were going the cheap route ..

Hit me up .. will get ya squared away bud .
