98 dodge ram 1500 has a 4inch lift and 35inch goodyear mtrs
was driving yesterday and the rear u joint was apperently bad was only doing 55mph (on the highway) truck started shaking violently! let off the gas and Bang! i had nothing, a huge cloud of smoked appeared from behind and i slowly pulled over...at first i thought the tranny went due to the fact i had nothing in drive, and iv heard of the storys about these auto trannys, but when i pulled over i noticed my driveshaft missing and a piece of the transfercase missing as well. (yeah awesome lol) well long story short make sure u got heavy duty u joints in your driveshafts if you run bigger tires and lift your truck. i found out the hard way, and now im down a transfercase and driveshaft. luckly i have triple A and had the truck towed to my house where i will be fixing it. just really sucks bc i just finished painting the truck and gettin it looking like new and i wasnt even able to really enjoy it lol oh well things happen, just wanted to throw this out there as usefull information so hopefully this dont happen to you guys
