I've been plugging away at my home made headache rack and I'm nearing the part of wiring in the lights. The stop turn and tails are easy but I'm putting clear LED's for backup/work lights.
I want to have them come on when I put the truck in reverse, that's easy just tap into the reverse light circuit but I want to be able to turn them on with a switch but not have the trucks reverse lights come on.
I'm thinking I need some sort of diode to keep from feeding power to the truck lights but I have no clue what kind. I don't want to run another set of clear lights either.
Can anyone please make a suggestion as to what I need?
Thanks in advance.
Don

Use a relay with a switch in it. Set it so that when the reverse lights turn on the relay turns on the extra lights. And again when you turn on the switch it should be set to just turn on the extra lights. If I can find a wiring diagram I will post it for you, but it should be easy.

That would be great if you could find a wiring diagram. I picked up the paint and some other goodies for wiring the lights, wire loom, straps and other bits and pieces.
I just need some warm weather to get the paint done then get it mounted.
And thanks for the reply.
