I recently traveled during the night for about 6 hours. I find my headlights to be too bright and have too much glare. Close to 75% of the traffic I met were flashing the headlights at me. I checked the aiming of the lights and don't think they are too high. I had about 1500 lbs in the truck but have auto leveling suspension. What are other owners finding? The one issue is that all 4 headlights are on during low beam operation the same as high. Can I simply unplug the inside lights? I'm sure it would still be brighter than my previous trucks.

I drove both...reflector LED's are better than the Limited projectors.

I have them on my 19 Bighorn. I've been driving this truck for 7 months now, and have yet to have someone flash their lights at me. I find the LED lights a great upgrade from my old 08 GMC truck. I can pick up many things on the side of the road that were easily missed before.

Read your last 2 lines, U answered the question. Your "High" Beams are on during "Low" beam operation. Something is not right there, either a switch or programming, all IMHO...

All four of your headlights are on even with the low beams? That’s odd. That means your brights are on as well unless they’re coming on at a lower power, and not full intensity until on bright but even if that were the case, just the mere fact of having four lights on at once would aggravate most oncoming traffic just the same as if two low beams and fog lights on at the same time, even if the fog lights were of complete OEM specs and aiming.

I highly doubt they’re supposed to be that way but yeah, even though this is the new fifth-gen we’re talking, I wouldn’t think they’re supposed to be that way. Have you asked your dealer about it? Of all the times I’ve seen one of those new Limited‘s that has the LED headlights on them, I don’t think I ever recall seeing them where they look like they’re driving down the road with their highbeams on, making it look like all four headlights are lit up at once.

I thought the new 19’s that had the LED headlights were in fact projectors. Are you saying that even the less fancier models that have the reflector style headlights also have LEDs in them?

fogs on with lows is factory spec. that's normal.

highs should only be lit when lights are on high beam, or alone at reduced power as DRL

Low is 4 lights but less power. Fogs don't change it.

Dealer says it is an issue. Even the heavy duty Limiteds are that way. Checked at the dealer and he just received a 2020 3500 Limited and it is the same. Says he drove from New Brunswick back to Ontario with a Longhorn and every second vehicle flashed their lights. The dealer is supposed to see what my options are but I will look and see if I can unplug the 2 inside lights? Probably throw codes. We've complained about poor lights for years but this is too bright!

I kinda figured what I said might confuse people....lol.

What I meant was, even if those new trucks are actually supposed to light up all four lights at the same brightness until the highbeams are on, I was saying how I could see how that could aggravate oncoming traffic that didn’t know that, just from the sight of that many lights on at the same time, regardless if they’re actually blinding anyone or not- much like when someone runs their factory brightness, OEM aimed fog lights at the same time, makes some people highbeam you anyway just because in their mind, four lights on at once is too much in their opinion, even if it really isn’t any brighter.

So are your lights reflector, or projector?

And you’re sure that all four lights come on as low beams? Can you verify that when you turn your highbeams on that they do indeed get brighter?

They are projector lights and yes there are 4 headlights on all the time. On bright they simply are brighter. I have verified this on other trucks as well as mine. Even checked with the Ram Rodeo guys truck and same thing. Dealer says yes that is the way they work. I think they flash when they see the 4 lights.

Lil incorrect. Would depend upon when your 2019 was made. I have a early 2019 Bighorn and I have mid range LED's all the way except for CHMSL, they are in reflector lenses, they just do not turn and adjust like on the high end limited models, but the corresponding fog light comes on when U turn wheel if fogs are not on. Now my son just bought a 2019 Bighorn a few weeks ago and he said the dealer told him on recently built Bighorns, only quad halogen available. TRUCKIT: As far as 4 headlights forward, when on low, that has got to be something with Canadian requirements or different transportation laws, ., but alas, so not saying U did, but a lot of people use AlphaOBD and such and modify their trucks and change a lot of stuff. Depending upon the state in US U R in, a lot of PPL play and add their "fog/running" lights when other 4 is on and in TX that is illegal. Just saying, all IMHO.....

I guess for now my solution is to turn the left light way down. I don't want to get into wiring. The 4 lights on low could be a Canadian thing but I highly doubt it. Maybe someone with a truck in the US can verify?

I have a 2019 Limited and all four of my lights are on with the low beams.

This is normal operation. For high beams the shield lifts and allows more light to shoot up.

I think it was the weight in your bed. Even with the air suspension I'll bet there was a little sag.

I noticed driving home tonight my low beam cutoff was right at or slightly below more cars driver side mirror. To me that means I may have to aim them down just a touch when I haul heavy.

You have the auto high beam turned on, the sensor is behind your rear view mirror and headlight switch is probably in AUTO too. If you want to disable it simply go to your screen and select the following:
  • Controls
  • Settings
  • Lights
  • Un-check auto dim high beams

Try it and reply back and let us know if that worked.

How ‘bout instead of turning it off completely, can’t you treat these new trucks like the later 4th-gens and just pull back on the dimmer switch to turn them off?
