I ran full synthetic in all my diffs with no issue. I'll be changing the fluid out in my 2011 Ram this fall to full synthetic.

the thing is all the high end brands i would use like mobil 1 or royal purple come with the friction modifier already in it, do you still put some in it? says for high performance rear ends you might need more?

Other than an aftermarket TrueTrac, syn is fine.

I just had my LSD put in today and they told me to change it a 500 miles and put in Syn oil and Ford Posi additive. They said they don't know why but ford's is best.

You need synthetic and the additive, your shop is smokin bat poop.

Sorry my rear end shop has been in business for 36 years and sure they have rebuilt a few more rear ends than you.

I was talking to the OP dude. Not referring to you or your shop.

Guess you should clarify who you are talking to and what you said is still not true.

I respectfully disagree sir; I think synthetic with additive is the the best. I just disagree with you, no harm. Wasn't referring to your shop or you, was just stating my opinion. It's an open forum and I don't need to clarify $hit to you. :flipthebird:

Synthetic is best for anything but a TrueTrac. With new gears you want to run cheap conventional for 500 miles and avoid towing or anything that will heat up the diff. After that, drain and replace with synthetic. Run that at least 25k miles or more or you are wasting your money. Clutch style LSD's require the additive, no questions. However, some are stating the new Anti-Spin is a gear type. That I cannot comment on.

New ZF LSD is clutch type still... It is encased and cant be seen like the old style 9.25 lsd
Friction modifier required.

Ok well I have a question. What oil would be best to make it catch posi in the new zf axle or is it possibil to put in a different clutch pack or in a different order?
