anyone seen this before? Any idea what causes the truck to do this?

I haven’t seen this until now, and i’m not sure why no one else tried to help, but it looks to me that your alternator is WAY past needing replacement. You’re flooring it and it’s not able to provide enough voltage, which is why the battery light is on, and it dies. Once the engine RPMs get low enough due to no spark, it cranks again and is ok enough to drive mildly.

First time seeing this as well. I’d go with alternator. I had this issue but kit bay extreme. Mine would give me a hard time starting, most times needing boost. I’d drive and shut the truck off and it would start, nothing, dead. Have to have a boost again to get going. I went through a starter, battery, and lastly, alternator which fixed the issue. Not the same, but in the same vicinity!
