Hey guys , got a quick question:

Took the girls off roading and fishing around lake mead Sat. I got into some really soft sand and wanted to lock everything up.

I put truck in neutral, put gear box in neutral, disconnected sway bar, put lockers into front and back.

shifted into 4 high and put in gear to lock everything in. my light for front and rear lockers never went steady it blinked.

Is that normal ? I tried to roll in reverse for a bit but it just kept blinking and never went solid.

Any advise ?

This guy makes a professional looking kit that let's you use either locker or both in 4low and he is also working on a bypass for the swaybar so you can disconnect in any transfer case setting.. I plan on getting this next year. He also does military discount. His email is [email protected]

And not only can you use both of the lockers in hi range or the rear in 2 wheel, but they lock up instantly. None of the waiting around ******** you get with the factory constraints.

I didn't realize you had to be in neutral or have the Tcase in neutral...because on my '17 I was able to engage the rear locker and disconnect the swaybar while I was in gear. Sitting still, yes, but very definitely in gear.

You don’t have to be in neutral. Just in 4LO. But you need to have the transmission in neutral in order to shift the tcase into neutral and 4LO.

The manual specifically says to never put the transfer case in neutral unless towing if I remeber right.

Ah. That makes sense.

Also - I don't think that's changed since the 70's - you always have to have the transmission in neutral to get to 4Lo.

You can run the rear lockers in 2hi on the fly. I do it at the deer camp some times. Sometimes the front take a few seconds in 4lo as well as the sway disconnect( have to be slower then 18 mpg and it does reconnect if you exceed 18)

That’s actually not the case of older transfer cases. Most of them wanted to be shifted in a forward transmission gear at a coast of less than 3mph.

My SM465 NP205 was nearly impossible to get 4lo in transmission N

It’s definitely the case with almost all these push button cases, as a safety interlock.
