I have a 2015 ram 1500, electronic locking tailgate like everyone else. My question is I keep alot of tools in the bed with a cover over the bed. Is there a way to disable the tailgate lock from unlocking with the doors or fob for when I am having work done? My last ram was a manual lock, I could just give them the fob and keep the key and they couldnt open it. I dont have that option now.. anyone have a solution?

You could take off the tailgate covert and disconnect the electronic lock's that so that it only works with a key.
You could even have the tailgate re-keyed for a separate/different key (or replace the lock and key yourself).

Yes that was my first idea was taking the panel off and disconnecting it, I am assuming its just one plug you pull? Havent had the panel off yet.

My OEM Mopar hard tonneau has a tab that fits in a bolt on fitting on the tailgate to keep the tailgate from opening. It's not installed on mine as I just use the locking tailgate. But if you installed something like it, you could lock the cover and the tailgate wouldn't open.

Complicates it if you use the locking tailgate mostly, but just removing the tab until you need it could do what you want. Just a phillips screwdriver to remove.

Yes. Just one plug to the lock cylinder. If you have a backup cam, then it splits from the short harness, just unplug only the one at the lock.
