Looking at another Ram. This will be my third or fourth and I’m torn between the Hemi and Hurricane.

Horror stories aside, my ‘23 Ram Hemi eTorque was bought back by Ram so I’m a bit gun shy on another, but I’m old skool and not sold on the Hurricane’s missing dip stick. Seems there’s no perfect 1500 scenario aside from pick your poison. A distant option is to pick up a 2500 with the 6.4 but that’s a different discussion.

What say you about the Hemi eTorque or Hurricane?

Either one could be a crap shoot or the best truck you have ever had.

I went with the etorque hemi. Been absolutely flawless so far at 15k miles.

This could get out of hand, so just be prepared for that.
Most folks here have a strong dislike for the e-torque. I personally love my hurricane, and as a daily driver, I much prefer it over my previous hemis (none were e-torques). Most of the people who are anti-hurricane have never driven one, or they apparently only use their trucks to tow downhill, and apparently a hemi is better for that

Test drive em!
Hemi guy last 10 years!
Switched to SO hurricane and love it. Mine has had issues with crap fuel. 89-93 octane and zero issues.

I have said it before and will say it again

Hurricane HO > Hemi. All day, every day and twice on Sunday
Hurricane HO > Hemi with etorque fixed it for ya.

I will happily concede hurricane has been a pleasant surprise. But as you know first hand has it's issues. When considering long term out look the new hemi Rams without etorque have to have any advantage. However, with a ten year warranty, it softens the difference. I would buy the huricane over e-torque, but not over the non e-torque hemi's. Rumble Bees will be heavily popular.

The issues are not with the engine but the electrical system. So it will not matter the engine the issue is present. No doubt the Bees will be popular. Unless the dealers gouge like usual.

Depends on usage. If you're load duty cycle is low, Hurricane might be fine, acknowledging it has even more gizmos on it than the Hemi does (to make a small engine yield more power).

Multiple turbos, variable vanes, segment cooling, etc. etc. etc.

Throwing "technology" at little engines to "make 'em big" is problematic for reliability and durability. Anyone can make it run out the door of a dealership for awhile.

Too Ford 10 years to make the eco-boost last over 100,000 miles.
