A little background , I had my bedliner sprayed and had them spray over the rail including a portion of the top of the outside of the bed. I took the bed rail caps off before the spray and broke the tabs, so they will have to be replaced at about 200.00. My other alternative would be to buy bed rails(leaning towards backrack) and they would secure my old caps and wouldn't need replacing. The backtracks would end up costing me 285.00 High gloss. So would probably end up knocking that off and spraying them with bedliner myself.
Running boards are spray lined and not back on the truck yet. Have some ebay power wagon rims in the basement that will go on it mounted with some mud terrain geolanders. Black center caps and lugs.
Lol so my question is are the bed rails going to put me over the top and cause me to have to much going on. Lol
Other suggestions? 20191002_142230.jpg 20191002_141136.jpg Screenshot_20191002-141938_Chrome.jpg

Why not leave the rail caps off since the liner was sprayed over the top of the bed and add rails? That would give you tie down areas for securing any cargo. I've thought about rails also but just not sure about them. Magnum Truckracks also makes a rail.

There is double row of slots the clips fit into. The outer most row is in between the inner and outer panel. I'm afraid it would collect alot of water. For some reason Im thinking I heard that area is foam filled?. The top of the rail is also a series of peaks and valleys I think you would see without a cap that followed that had some overhang on the outside.

I have the Back Rack Head Ache Rack and Rails. LOVE the rails, Very well made ! FYI even with the rail you can put you RAM plastic bed rail caps on as they bolt on in the pocket holes and would hold the caps on ! Also the cap would protect the bed a tad more. Also if you have on the plastic caps the rear bolts will be a tiny bit short to use the supplied lock washer! Too thick,so the flat star type works fine ! Is the top of the bed rail sprayed with liner ? They are heavy duty ! The Magnum rail are very nice but more $$$

The top of the bed rails are sprayed. It sounded like a good idea at the time to remove the caps. I'll take a picture in the daylight. I figured if I broke the caps it would be easy to find an aftermarket, ,,,not so.
Rado that's what I was thinking about the backrack rails is that I wouldn't have to buy new caps just the rails and would only be out 100.00 over replacing the caps.

If you do not reinstall the old plastic cap the supplied bolts should be fine ! A little bit of a pain to hold but not bad ! ALSO do not fully tighter the bolts until after you install the rails, SO you have slack to adjust them Just finger snug will keep them form sliding around ! May take you 10 minutes to install :)

How do the bolts work.,,,can I just go to the hardware store and buy longer bolts if they are not long enough to use over the bed rail caps. The bed liner is not that thick I don't think it is lock washer thick.

With out the cap I think you will be fine ! With the cap pick up a pair of those flat style lock washers ! The supplied bolts are basically 2 bolts welded together in a L shape. You place bolt in the pocket cut out and put the other end in the lower factory hole ! Take a look in the be you will see the hole I am talking about ! Awhile ago I did E mail them about the minor issue with the bolts and plastic cap but never heard back.. All they have to do is get a slightly longer bolt or off set it a little more ! Sorry I suck at explaining things through typing :O
If you need the thin lock washers you want the style like this, Forgot the proper size but you get the idea

Yeah backtracks videos suck and no pictures. Do you fasten the rack to the top of the bed with a nut , I understand the side hole part. I could probably just use loctite if that's the case.
