Im finding that myreverse lights just are not bright enough. What is the best way to get more light back there? Simple bulb replacement or adding extra set of lights?

LED bulbs would help out, that's what I have and it does increase the light, but an extra set of lights would really light it up back there. There's some members on here that have done that.

Do the LED bulbs need a new socket or do the just plug right in to the existing one? Basically is this just a bulb replacement?

I'm not 100% sure on that. I have a set of LED tails; I haven't changed out reg bulbs for LEDs.

Led bulbs will be just a replacement. I have them in my tail lights as well as the cargo lights.

That looks nice. I should add those bulbs to my cargo lights so it matches my reverse lights.

On my last truck, I mounted a set of 55W foglights under the bumper. I then wired in a relay triggered by the backup light wire, using the constant power pin from the trailer wiring for the power source. Worked flawlessly. Likely when it warms up, I'll do it on this truck as well.

Superbrightleds.com. Just type in your trucks info and then go to reverse lights or whatever. Cargo and reverse are the same bulb.

check out vleds.com for their reverse license plate bracket V-LEDS HIGH POWER 18W LED BACK-UP LIGHT LICENSE PLATE FRAME
Just installed one a few weeks ago and this thing is bright as hell! Was having the same issue u are, couldn't see crap backing up at night with the dark window tint. Already have led reverse bulbs in my recon smoke tails, but they don't put out much light, the license plate light definitely did the trick and i can actually see behind me at night now, plus install took about a whole ten minutes

This is great stuff. I really like that License plate light. Seems like it would blend in the best and not look like it was additional equipment. Thanks for the link.

No problem, I love it so far. Can't even really tell it's there, but when I put it in reverse at night I highly advise not to look directly at my rear license plate lol

I have this:

copied from another thread here:

No "action" shots of it on the 2010, but here is my little light that plugs into the 7 pin connector. LOVE IT! Not bad for 30 bucks.
