so I’ve never rebuilt a diff but my ring and pinion are toast. I’m trying to figure out what size shim or if I need a shim on the pinion big Bering? I know some definitely have them not sure all required them. My Bering didn’t seem to have one left after meltdown or did it have one at all is my question? I’m using the g2 355 kit I believe I can check numbers for sure if it might make a difference in helping to figure this out. I’m right at getting a tough race out then totally ready to seat this Bering and get on the road again. Any help would be awesome thanks.

What year is your truck? Are we talking about the 9.25 Corporate axle?

If so, you don't need a shim between the big bearing and the pinion gear. These axles are not set up that way. In over 19 years in the Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealerships and especially since 2002 with the DR body inception, I have never used a shim on the bearings on a 9.25 Corporate axle. Press or drive the big bearing on, slip it in the housing, put your small bearing in and then your crush sleeve, drive your pinion seal in and put the yoke on, torque to spec and measure your pinion turning torque.

Pretty simple. Take your time and you'll be okay.

Awesome thanks going to do that right now really appreciate your advice. It’s been a long week of watching utube trying to figure out how I wanted to start the rebuild. Research is pretty intense on gears. I think I will be good though. It will be nice to have a brand new gear set. 250,000 miles on her and still going strong for the most part. Definitely harder miles than most but I spoil her!!
