Recently discovered a loose bolt on my valve cover. Tried to tighten it but it just keeps spinning and doesnt tighten. I am going to get a helicoil kit to fix it. My question is, what are the consequences of driving with a loose valve cover bolt? Im not sure how long It's been loose and want some ideas of what issues this could cause or may have already caused. Any ideas?

Water from moisture getting in the oil pan turns acidic when in contact with oil. Oil can leak. I have seen camshaft rust on an impala that was parked in San Diego while the marine was shipped overseas. He came back and the car misfired. There is not much to fear really. Only after a long term storage.

You're risking a small oil leak. That's about it if you plan on fixing it soon.
