Got my bullydog today for my 13 r/t. Display is tiny but that's ok, it wont be mounted in the truck anyways. Install was a breeze, I don't understand why everyone has issues with them. Installed the normal tune for now with 1/4 89 and 1/4 93 in the tank. Drove around for 10-15 minutes and then shifts are smoother, it seems to like to stay around 1500-1600rpm cruising which doesn't bother me. Only did a pull form 20-80 but its DEFINATLY noticeable! Maybe ill throw on the performance tune next tank of gas to see the difference.

Awesome! Congrats man!

The 93 tune is much better, and it seems to get even better after a couple days of driving, too.:party36:

Congrats! I love mine. I just bumped it up to the 93 tune and love it although I will be going back to the mid grade soon.

93 tune will just be for special occasions. Ive owned the truck since mile 1 and its already got 23,500 in 11 months. It would be nice to run 93 all the time but its just not smart on the wallet. I go to the track with my brother every Wednesday for test and tune and a ecoboost is always there racing. (its beyond me why anyone would drag race a stock pickup truck every week) Maybe next week ill pull up next to him just for fun :naughty:

The 93 tune is way better. It's a world of difference. Once you install it you won't want to go back to the 87 tune

My guess would be the Ecoboost guy is making incremental changes. If you are worried about performance, it makes sense to get a good baseline. Then re-run after different mods to see if there are any real world gains vs the hypothetical 10-20hp gains bolt on suppliers advertise.

Install your 93 tune and go spank him would be my philosophy...but then again, I'm a **** like that, lol. :favorites13:

I liked mine so much I kept it as a gauge when I got the DS with HF tune. I like the smaller size and do not like the cartoonish look of the DS trinity. Plus the DS won't turn off half the time etc. I never installed anything but the 93 tune tho. Never even wanted to try the lower octane tunes. I also found it ALOT easier to update and get installed than the DS.

is the bullydog just as good as a hemifever tune on a stock truck?

Doubtful. The factory tunes included with the tuners are what each manufacturer considers a fail safe tune that will work with a variety of vehicles. Granted, one might see it slightly different so that is why some may feel more responsive than another.

However, when you get a "custom" tune written, it is supposed to be specific to your vehicle. The limits can be pushed further once you know the specific existing criteria vs a generic range.

So a custom tune should always perform better than a stock tune, unless the tuner doesn't know his sh*t.

When I put he HF tune in (93 octane) it felt like I put another Bully Dog on it. Does that make sense? It was like twice what the BD added. At least on my truck. I have several supporting mods though.
