Hey all Happy New Year! Getting ready to do the upper control arms on my 2013 1500 and was wondering the lower ball joint on the 2wd was replaceable. Didn't find much info online to verify or deny if they are replaceable and that's why I'm here. I ordered the Moog UCA's today and if the lower ball joints are replaceable, I'll go ahead and replace them too while I'm down there.

Not sure about the 2wd’s, but on the 4x4’s, you have to grind the “dimples” off of the ball joint before it can be pressed out of the lower control arm.

Here’s a pic showing the 3 dimples on my ‘12 4x4’s lower ball joints.

Thanks for the reply. Let’s see if any of the 2WD guys respond. But seeing the prices for Lca’s, I’d imagine the ball joints are replaceable.

I got a $50 ball joint removal kit off Amazon.

How hard was the ball joint to go in? I couldn’t get it in no matter what I tried. Snapped the anvil on a ratchet trying to get it in. Which ball joint did you buy?

Any benefit for changing these out early? I have 62k on my 2wd 2015. Was thinking I could go until about 100k or so. Everything is stock except tires

I wanted to do mine because the uppers went out, the boot was all cut up. Since I’d be lifting the truck, I thought while I was there, I might as well do it all.
