I'm currently looking to get a 2024 2500 and finding some misleading info on differentials.

I know what an LSD (clutch based) diff is, and What a Locker is (though I'm not quite sure how Ram does an auto locker), and their anti-spin should be a Torsen gear set.
When looking at various trucks, I see some listed as Anti-Spin (so it should be a Torsen gear set), but then in a different place (for the same vehicle) it will specify Auto locking.
So I'm wondering how to tell the difference without opening the rear end.

I prefer the Torsen gears, but if Ram auto locking works well maybe I could live with that.

My use is on and off road towing (6-8K lbs), loose dirt/gravel, mud, snow, and ice. Not rock crawling or hardcore off road.

You can't trust dealer information on any vehicle, because it all depends on who posted it online. Most of the time it's an intern or a secretary or the worst sales person they have, many of whom don't know the first thing about vehicles.

The best option is to get the VIN and pull a window sticker, that should at least give you some clue as to what is on the truck. The REAL best way is a build sheet but I don't know that you can pull one of those without owning the vehicle.

The one other thing I'd like to confirm is that Ram Anti Spin is actually a torsen differential. (I mean you could call anything other than an open diff an anti spin) Everything I've read suggests that it is, but I haven't seen anything official in Ram documentation. Can't even find official documentation on the differential.

Is there a site with technical docs or manuals for Ram 2500?
