Finally got a spare 20 min and had this thing welded on, but first a rant. My buddy has the same truck, same engine. went to this shop 3 months ago and had the SAME MUFFLER welded on 90ish and took the guy a half hour. I go there today, it took him 2 hours. Then get this he comes out and tells me hees goin to put a hanger or two on there for me...............sure go ahead. Then he walked out to get me. rings me up for 160 for the install and 30 for parts. After just staringat him for a minute trying not to rip his freaking head off. I (calmly) explain that he had done the same install on the same truck in half the time for only an hour of labor..............why is
mine twice as much. AND how to you figure an exhaust hangar and 2 pieces of 2.5 inch pipe5 inches long are 30 worth of stock. He also told me he diddnt remember my FRIEND. i look at the reciept and it says 2 hrs labor. the first hour my truck was in the parking lot, then nothingfor the next half hour. From the time i heard the first sawzall cuttill the time the truck rolled out was 40 minutes. and mine was the only truck in there.............$100 i walked out unhappy but with one (much better) sounding ram.

so thats the rant. asfor the muffler love it. real deep rumble at idle, and top end is just......wow. The MDS drone is not nearly as bad i thought. I would deffinatly reccomend it. and as for quality. i got the full stainless muffler back when i bought it. The muffler itself sat in saltwater for 3 days after my house was destroyed in the hurricane. There was not a spec of rust, now did any of the packing wash out. it sounds amazing

proof.......

Sorry about all the trouble with the shop, but I'm glad you like the muffler. Its amazing how something so simple as a muffler swap can make you fall in love with your truck again.

Most times the hanger rod needs to be welded directly to the Muffler. Glad you like it but may find in the long run your muffler itself being a 14 will turn goldish colour from the heat and your tailpipe tip/tips the same, if this happens you will want to go 18" next as a minimum. This is based on my experiences and after 2 tries and $$$$ am at 22". Always discuss cost prior to having any work done so you and the shop are on the same page. No point in getting upset but sounds like you wont be going there again. Danny

Any sound clips? I want to do the same thing. Can't decide between 14" and 18".

I agree 100% with the sound of the 14" . I initially wanted and 18" , but somehow the shop put on a 14, I didn't notice until I looked at the receipt. extremely happy with the sound.

Same thing happened to me but I'm very happy with the 14". I put mine on myself and aside from the tailpipes not wanting to come out of the OEM muffler it went well.

Same here too! But it was just to loud for the family truckster :( Had to take it back for the 18" I originally requested.

Glad you like the 14" :)
