So I'm just browsing the net minding my own business and somehow I end up on ebay looking at Diamond Audio. I'm sure half of you can relate :roflsquared:
Anyway, I come across a NOS 10" Diamond D3 Model: D310D4 (like 10 years old). It was for $99 shipped. I couldn't help myself as this was exactly the first sub I ran in my first car and it was amazing. I ended up trading it to a dealer for an RE Audio SX 10" back in 2009 (before RE outsourced and started to suck!) So there goes my plan on doing only small upgrades to the Alpine system. DAMMIT
More to come....

Yeah it's really a shame. At 29 I feel old as hell because so much has changed. So many companies have hit their peak and fell, so many companies have folded, and so many have just faded into obscurity like Diamond. Im just starting to get interested in this stuff again and everything is different now! But it's ok I don't care i'm going to rock it old school. Now to find some classic Diamond amps!

The pic you requested:

diamond was great until they went main stream (into big box stores, like rockford, like kicker, like eclipse, like compustar.......) i used their hex components for 10years in 4 different cars with the same amp and sub and it all sounded great just like it did from day 1. the D3 was their "beginner" sub bt for the money it still sounded great. now just give that sub what it deserves for the right power!

Good shot man loved those simple but elegant looking subs they had. baum you are right it felt like maxxsonic took everything over there for a bit with all the little companies going main stream.

That's a nice subwoofer! Nothing wrong with hunting down what you know and love. Some things in life make a lasting impression, then the search is on haha. I'll never never forget how the beginning of 'Ants Marching' sounded with my old Boston Pro components back in the mid 90's....I have never heard the snap of that snare drum sound the same....I don't care how sensitive certain components claim to be....nothing beats the snap or attack of those old Boston Pros. I may have to get on ebay now!
Enjoy!

So true, I had the older eclipse stuff in an '04 RAM, amps and 2 Sets of components. They sounded so much better than the newer stuff that came later.

Yeah I got my D3 from my local car audio shop in Alaska before I joined the service. I remember also seeing them in crutchfield some years ago and wondered if going mainstream would ruin them like so many others. Unfourtionately it looks like it did. This is not one of those subs produced over that period. You can visually tell by the cone.
Yes the D3 line was their entry level sub but I wouldn't really call it a "beginner" sub lol. But I know what you meant.
I guess Diamond is still around. I looked at their site. The product lineup is completely different now. I wonder if they are under new ownership now after all that.
I think I'll probably drive everything with an Alpine PDX-V9 and run a bit ten before it. I really like that Alpine PXA-H800 but I'm not wanting to spend the extra cash for the features so I prob won't buy it. But I like how it autotunes and you can have more than the 2 presets the bit ten allows.
Now I just have to decide what components to do. I'm really leaning toward CDT mainly because its what I know. But a lot has changed over the years so we will see.
Kinda sucks ED folded too. I used to always buy their cheap edead. I'll prob just get b stock damplifier.

Once you get into the tuning a bit you'll never miss an auto-tune feature. The Bit Ten has a lot of options in it and I don't even use 2 presets, let alone find a need for more. The only reason I see a need for more presets is if the signal is coming from more sources as each source would have to be de-equalized and set up differently. I run everything through the stock head unit because it already has so much connectivity in it so only 1 preset is needed for me. Apart from that all I need is a bass volume control to adjust for tastes in certain songs and that is easily handled with the DRC.

Yeah from what I've seen I think I'll be pretty happy with the bit ten. I've never used a DSP like this before but it seems pretty straight forward and gives a tremendous amount of control. Just gotta figure out where I'm going to buy it now

Well if you need any help with setting up and using the Bit Ten just let me know. I'm really happy with mine and it does everything I could want from a DSP.
